Funeral services were scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Interment was to follow in the Parker Cemetery. Madge was born May 16, 1915, to Alva Edgar and Florence A. (Hart) Farmer in Peel, AR. She attended Lead Hill, AR., schools as a young girl. On August 24, 1938, she married Clifton L. Colbert in Newkirk, OK. The couple made their home east of Newkirk on Little Beaver. They later moved to Maple City and then to Arkansas City in 1967. In 1989, the couple moved to Valley Center and in 1991, Madge moved into the Catholic Life Center in Wichita. She was a homemaker, farmer, nurses aide, and a sales clerk for Newman's and K-Mart. Madge was a member of the Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church in Arkansas City, honorary member of the Cowley County Home Demonstration Unit and Victory Chapter #151 O.E.S. in Arkansas City. She is survived by her two sons, Gary Colbert and his wife, Charlotte of Valley Center, and Vernon Colbert and his wife, Jeannie of North Richland Hills, TX; daughter Karen Musson and her husband Bill of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Amber Colbert Frank, Chris Colbert, Kimberly Colbert Moss, Craig Colbert and Jennifer Musson Northrop; seven great grandchildren and four nieces and a nephew. Madge was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Vew Farmer and sister, Gretchen Farmer Copelin. A memorial has been established with Catholic Life Center in Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
