Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002 at the Central Christian Church. Burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery. Phillip was born Oct. 4, 1930 in Eureka, KS., to Guy William and Abbie (Moss) Taylor. He was reared and educated in Reece, KS. He graduated from Reece High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Phillip married Nellie Katherine Kubick on July 22, 1950 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Wichita, Salina and moved to Arkansas City in 1968. She preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 1997. He had worked the Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas area for the last 50 years. Phillip was a longtime member of the Central Christian Church, the Crescent Masonic Lodge #133 AF&AM, the Midian Shrine of Wichita and Cowley County Shrine Club. Survivors include his son, Michael of Arkansas City; one daughter, Linda, and her husband, Rick Wertz of Sugarland, TX; one brother, Kenneth Taylor of Thayer, KS.; one sister, Gynell Berry of Wichita; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A memorial has been established with the Central Christian Church. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
