(McDaniel) Ashworth Ruby J. Ashworth, longtime Ponca City resident, died Wednesday, June 26, 1996, at the Ponca City Nursing Home. She was 66. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Northeast Baptist Church with the Rev. Rowland Briggs, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Blackwell, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today, then casket will be closed. Ruby J. (McDaniel) Ashworth was born Feb. 18, 1930, at Eldorado, Okla., the daughter of Loomis and Flora Mae (Brewer) McDaniel. She grew up and received her education in Sand Springs, where she graduated from high school in 1948. On Aug. 16, 1946, she was married to Fred Dale Ashworth at Columbus, Kan., and the couple established their first home in Sand Springs. Mrs. Ashworth was employed with American Smelting and Refinery Company in Sand Springs. The family moved to Ponca City in 1951, and Mrs. Ashworth began employment with Conoco Inc., in 1952. She retired as a supervisor in the Personnel Department in 1983. Mrs. Ashworth was a member of Northeast Baptist Church where she had served as church pianist in earlier years. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, and camping and playing dominoes and cards with friends. Survivors include her husband, Fred, of the home; one daughter, Donna Taglialatela of Ponca City; one son, William Ashworth of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Loomis McDaniel Jr. of Acworth, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. H.A. (Erma) Toothman of Tulsa; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Casket bearers will be Homer DeWeese, Kenny Reynolds, Jim Wilkinson, Gary Feil, Joe Hoyle and Francis Wilkerson. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Ashworth's name to Alzheimer's Association; Tulsa Chapter; 6465 South Yale, Suite 318, Tulsa, OK 74136.
