He was 78. The funeral will be held graveside at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ponca City IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Heyer, associate pastor of Ponca City First Christian Church officiating. A memorial service will follow at First Christian Church at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home, and friends may call at the funeral home until 9 a.m. Tuesday, then the casket will be closed. Robert Maxey "Max" Farnam was born Sept. 4, 1917, in Chanute, Kan., the son of Robert C. and Ethel T. (Maxey) Farnam. He attended schools in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School. On Sept. 22, 1940, he was married to Nadine Huntley in Ponca City. During World War II, Farnam served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war, he began employment at Conoco in the Mechanical Division on June 18, 1947. He retired as head operator in 1979, after 32 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Nadine, of the home; two sons, Ray of Marlton, Md. and Robert Gene of Katy, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Furnam's name to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104 or to First Christian Church, 210 North Fifth Street, Ponca City, OK 74601.
