Visitation with the family 6:00- 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2003, Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Service 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 20, 2003, First Christian Church, 102 E. First St., Newton, Kansas. Graveside Service 2:30 P.M. Thursday, February 20, 2003, Mt. Olive Cemetery, Nardin, OK. Mr. Shiplet graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Rollins College, Orlando, FL. and earned a MBA from Webster University in Wichita, KS. Mr. Shiplet was a member of the Friends University Orchestra, the Wichita Symphony Chorus and the Senseney Community Band. Wayne took pride in his wife, children, and grandchildren. The goal of Wayne's life was excellence in all things. Preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Lillian (Gaddis) Shiplet. Survivors: wife, Merlene, of the home, son, David Shiplet, of Marion, KS; daughter, Kathy Noreiga, of Marion, KS; step-son, Mark Wuerflein, of Bennett, CO; brother, Larry Shiplet, of Oklahoma City, OK, sister, Donna Williams, of Little Rock, AR.; five grandchildren; one great- grandchild.
