Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Boxman officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established with Redeemer Lutheran Church building fund and Friendship Meals, contributions may be left at the funeral home. Sophia was born on July 28, 1906 in Burr, Nebraska in Otoe County, the daughter of George and Anna Rauckman Eisenhauer. When she was four years old, the family moved to Carlton, KS and later in 1916 they moved to Newkirk, OK. She attended school in Newkirk and was confirmed on August 13, 1922, she also attended German Bible School and taught Sunday School. She married John Jensen Meyer on January 11, 1927 in Newkirk, OK at the St. John Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Kay County area until moving into Newkirk in 1940 and then to Arkansas City in 1942. She was a homemaker and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Guild and a member of the Friendly Neighbor Club for 58 years. Survivors include her son Donald Meyer and his wife Bonnie of Winfield, KS; two daughters, Mildred Rickords and her husband Lindel of Arkansas City and Wilma Hynd and her husband Kenneth of Newkirk, OK; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband John on November 18, 1968; five brothers William, Henry, Carl, Louie and infant brother Paul; two sisters Dora Eisenhauer and Emma Suedmeier.
