All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Rosa Elizabeth Leven Sr. Rosa Elizabeth buried Jan. 5 Following a brief illness, Sr. Rosa Elizabeth Leven, CSM, died in Marian Hall of Mt. St. Mary Convent on Jan. 3, [1990]. Sr. Rosa Elizabeth was born to Joseph and Gertrude (Conrady) Leven on April 28, 1902, in Blackwell, Okla. She was baptized in St. Joseph Church, Blackwell on June 12, 1902. In receiving the religious habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph on August 15, 1923, at Mt. St. Mary Convent in Wichita, she was given the religious name Sr. Mary Anselm, but she later returned to her baptismal name. She made her final vows Aug.15, 1928. Sr. Rosa Elizabeth's entire religious ministry was in domestic work and in serving as children's choir director and organist in parishes where she was missioned, all of which were in Kansas with exception of three years in Perry, Okla. Survivors include two brothers Anthony and Frank Leven of Newkirk, Okla., and a sister, Mrs. Maria Gray of Ponca City, Okla. The Most Rev. Stephen A. Leven, former Bishop of the Diocese of San Angelo, Texas, who died June 28 1983, was also her brother. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was held at 4 p.m. Jan. 5, for Sr. Rosa Elizabeth in the Mt. St. Mary Convent Chapel, with her nephew Rev. Marvin F. Leven of Okarche, Okla., as celebrant and homilist. Burial was in the convent cemetery. Published on Thursday January 11, 1990 – [Wichita, KS]
