She was 70. The daughter of Lucy Mae Ramsey, she was born July 9, 1928 at Arkansas City. She grew up living near Newkirk on the state line with her mother and grandparents, and she attended Tipton Rural School. On March 4, 1946 she and Fred Samuel Lewman were married at Wellington, Kansas. They established their first home in Newkirk. She worked for Harry's Cafe and later managed the Newkirk Sale Barn. In 1975 Mr. Lewman retired and they moved to Rio Grande Valley, Texas. They returned to Newkirk in 1990, and she was employed by Dairy Cream and later Smith Country. At the time of her death she was employed as the eatery supervisor for Kaw Bingo. She was a member of the Newkirk First Baptist Church. She enjoyed her dog Beth and playing bingo. She is survived by three sons, Gary "Bud" Lewman and David A. Lewman, both of Newkirk, and Fred E. Lewman of Ponca City; six grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred on November 19, 1992; one daughter, Mary Ann Majors; her mother and grandparents. A graveside service was scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday, June 23 in the Newkirk Cemetery with the Rev. J. Craig Ortwein, minister of the Newkirk Christ's Church officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. A memorial fund has been established with the American Lung Association.
