He was 27. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Ponca Indian Cultural Center at White Eagle. A traditional Indian feast will be held at noon Monday and the funeral will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Thomas Roughface officiating. Burial will be in the Ponca Indian Cemetery under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Ponca City. Wesley Thomas Collins was born July 28, 1978, at the Pawnee (Okla.) Indian Hospital, the son of Henry Thomas and Iris LaVerne (LeClair) Collins. He attended Ponca City schools and graduated from Lawrence (Kan.) High School in 1987. He attended Haskell Indian College and Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. Collins was employed at Aero Electronics for two years. He held the office of Whipman for the House of Warriors Society and was a member of the Night Hawk Drum and Dance Troupe. Collins was a champion straight dancer and a Ponca Tribal Singer. Survivors include his parents, Henry and Barbara (Stumblingbear) Collins of Lawrence, Kan.; his mother Iris LeClair of Ponca City; one daughter in Arizona; two brothers, Robert and Bruce Collins, both of Ponca City; four sisters, LaVerne, Jennie, Justine, and Louise, all of Ponca City. Casket bearers will be William Edmo, Pete Buffalohead, Jason Buffalohead, Mark Collins, Jerod Buffalohead and Arthur Cerre.
