He was 84. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at Northeast Baptist Church with the Rev Dr. Larry Nigh, Pastor, and the Rev. Randy Ratliff, Minister of Education, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home. The family will greet friends at Trout Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. Bill was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Wichita, Kan. He was the son of William and Daveena Law Williams. He obtained his education in Wichita and then entered the United States Armed Forces to serve his country in World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and went to work in Lincoln, Neb., where he met the love of his life, Betty Murrell from Fairmont, Neb. They were married July 15, 1946, in Wellington, Kan. Moving to Perry to start their life together, they then moved to Ponca City in 1947 where they started Williams Sign Company and Central Two-Way Radio. He was well noted for his neon sign work and many of Ponca City's signs that still stand. Besides his work with neon lights he enjoyed photography, working on two-way radios in the early days and model trains. His love of music was known to many and his talent of playing the Hammond organ was enjoyed by many. Bill was a loving husband to his wife, Betty of almost 57 years. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved and enjoyed his family and many long- time friends. He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; ten children, Jon Williams of Ponca City and wife Sue of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jane Worstell and her husband Doyle of Ponca City, David Williams of Ponca City, Patricia and Sonny Karcher of Morrison, Marcia Miller and her husband Mike of Ponca City, Sandra White and Dennis of Enid, Nancy Hazlewood of Ponca City, Richard and his wife Jan of Ponca City, Shelly Williams of Ponca City, and Kelly McDonald of Tulsa; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and another one due in July; and one brother Richard L. Williams of Phelan, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Lesa Michelle. The family will be at his home, 1705 Blake. Memorial contributions may be made to the Via Christi At Home Nursing Care, 1209 E.
