All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Maurice (Dale) Williams Dale Williams passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at Providence Medford Medical Center in the presence of his immediate family. He was born October 20, 1922 in Newkirk, Okla. to Reuben Grover Williams and Dott (Deadmond) Williams. In 1923 the family moved to Modesto, Calif. where they lived until the death of Reuben Williams in 1932. The family then moved to Ashland, Ore. Dale attended Bellview School, Ashland Junior High, and graduated from Ashland High School in 1940. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in February 1943, where he served in chemical warfare until he transferred to the Army Air Corps. On October 23, 1943, he married his high school sweetheart, Jeannette Burton, in St. Louis, Miss., where he was in aviation cadet training. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in October 1944, and trained to be a bomber pilot flying B24s, B25s, and B26s. He received an honorable discharge in November 1945 and returned to Ashland. He served as a Metropolitan Life Insurance agent in Ashland until 1959 when he was promoted to agency manager and transferred to Eugene, Ore. In 1962 he returned to the Rogue Valley to manage the new Medford Metropolitan office. In 1968 he became one of the founding partners of the Protectors Insurance Agency. He served as Jackson County president of Independent Insurance Agents in 1974-75, and state president in 1979-80. He served as Master of Masonic Lodge, Ashland Lodge #23, A F. & A.M. in 1955. He was a member of the original planning board for Rogue Valley Manor and served on its board until 1997. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served as board chairman in the Ashland church and St. Luke's Methodist Church, before transferring to First United Methodist Church in Medford, where he served as board chairman and chairman of finance. He was a charter member of Southern Oregon Tennis Club and continued playing into his 80s. He loved reading, playing tennis and being with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; his daughter, Marianne (aka Willie) McCamey; his son, Monte (Jeannie); four grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Ryan Williams, all of Medford; and granddaughter, Megan Stirm of Ashland; sister, Veda (Leo) Zupan of Ashland; sisters-in-law, Mouryne (Joe) Dini of Yerington, Nev. and Caroline (David) Lowry of Phoenix, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanne Marie, in 1972 and his brother, Jack W. Williams in 1979. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather and good friend and will be greatly missed by us all. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at First United Methodist Church, 607 West Main Street, Medford, OR.
