Wilson Woodrow W. Wilson, longtime Ponca City resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at the hospital in Ponca City. He was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Pawhuska, to Lloyd W. and Bessie E. Wilson. He was educated in Tonkawa. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November of 1942 and served as a forward observer for an antiaircraft battery in the European Theatre of World War II. On Jan. 27, 1946, he married Arvilla M. Teufel of Newkirk. They made their home in Tonkawa before moving to Ponca City in 1953. He worked for Conoco Refinery for 27 years, retiring in 1977. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents as well as 10 of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by a daughter, Jane Stottlemyre of Sand Springs; two sons and their wives, Gary and Susan Wilson and Richard and Karen Wilson, all of Ponca City; and one sister, Catherine Rice of Dallas, Texas. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Katrina, Morgan, Rusty and Cliff Wilson, and Marie Osborn; three step-grandchildren, Rodney and Randy Caldwell and Beth Petrie; six great-grandchildren, Sara Osborn, Rheanna, Savannah, Michael and Bubba Caldwell, and Evan Petrie; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Woody, as he was affectionately known, loved his family and friends. He enjoyed his garden, flowers, and travel. He especially enjoyed dancing, which he did as often as possible. The funeral for Woodrow Wilson will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Woodlands Christian Church with the Rev. Paul M. Krueger, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodlands Christian Church, 1400 E.
