All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== The Kingfisher Times & Free Press, Kingfisher, Oklahoma Wednesday, January 2, 2002 Warren Charles Cooley, 79, of Cashion died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dale DePue of the First United Presbyterian Church of Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in the Cashion Cemetery, under direction of Smith Funeral Home in Guthrie. Warren was born on July 6, 1922, in Cashion to William and Elsa Cooley Sr. Warren was a P51 Fighter Pilot and an Ace Pilot during WWII, and was an ex-POW, having spent one year in a German prison camp. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Aviation and Space Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Guthrie and served as an elder, the Cashion Lions Club, Cashion Odd Fellows, a member for over 50 years in the Cashion Masonic Lodge No. 174, a 32nd Degree Mason in the Guthrie Scottish Rite, the India Shrine Temple and president of the Cashion Cemetery Association. He is survived by his wife Mildred of the home; one son, Warren C. Cooley Jr. of Lynden, Wash.; one daughter, Carol Epperson of Cashion; one brother, William "Bill" Cooley of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Angela Calvert, Lyah Doyal and Caleb Cooley, and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Calvert and Mason Calvert. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eileene Howard. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Kidney research.
