Eliza Jane Merford Smith:  S530

  Eliza Jane Merford was born in Pike County, Missouri, May 3, 1851, and
departed this life at her home in Kingfisher, Oklahoma March 18, 1926,
age 71 years 10 months and 15 days.
  She was married to James C. Smith, October 22, 1868. to them were born
ten children, four of whom are still living: Mrs. Leoron V. Orr and
William N. of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; Cal of Gainsville, Missouri; and
Ezra of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Six of her children have preceded her in
death. Her husband passed away January 20, 1914.
  She joined the Missionary Baptist Church in 1868 and remained a member 
until 1901, when she joined the General Baptist Church. She held her
memberhsip in this church until the close of her life.
  Mrs. Smith was a kind mother, a good neighbor, and a devout Christian.
Her going will be felt by many.
  She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her children, two brothers, two
sisters, eighteen grandchildren, with a large circle of friends.
