All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== Following obit published Enid, Garfield Co, OK, "Morning News" Feb 24, 1946: Former Glasko Woman Dies In Oklahoma Eliza Jane SLUSHER, the daughter of Isaac and Mary Elizabeth KELLOGG, was born July 20, 1851, at Robinson, Crawford Co, Illinois, and died February 20, 1946, at the age of 94 years and seven months. She grew to young womanhood in Illinois and was married to Alfred E. SLUSHER, a recent discharged soldier from the Union Army in the Civil War. She and her husband moved to Ohio, where they resided and reared their family. In 1878 they migrated to Glasko, Kansas, and remained there utill the opening of old Oklahoma, when they settled at Kingfisher where the husband died in 1894. She made the run in the Cherokee Strip and staked a homestead 12 miles south of Phillips University. There she resided until 1907 when she moved to Enid, and was living in her home at 216 North Fifth when she died. She was an active member of the Christian Church at the G. A. R. and Sons of Veterans auxillary. She affiliated with the Christian Church early in life and by precept and practice carried out the tenets of her church. Eight children were born of this union, six of whom are now living. The two who preceded her in death were Worley and Howard. She leaves in her immediate family three sons, F. E. SUSHER of the home, Dr. William SLUSHER of Enid, and H. H. SLUSHER of Medford; three daughters, Mrs. Laura VOGT and Mrs. Ida STEPHENSON of Enid and Mrs. Minnie BURSON of Omega; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; also one great-great-grandchld; also three nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will morn her passing. She will be interred beside her husband and son, Howard, in the Kingfisher cemetery.
