Hudson Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in El Reno for Cecil E. Hudson with Rev. Pat Sutherlin of First Christian Church officiating. Cecil Evelyn (Hawk, Clark) Hudson, 91, a long-time resident of El Reno, passed away Dec. 30, 2001, at the Cimarron Nursing Home in Kingfisher, after a short illness, where she had been a resident since September 2001. Cecil was born April 14, 1910, east of Hennessey, to John Henry and Annie Eldora (Wren) Hawk. They had 13 children with Cecil being the youngest of seven girls. She had six younger brothers. Cecil grew up on the farm where she was born and attended Lone Star Country School. When she was eleven years old, she was baptized in Williams Pond, close to where she attended the Union Chapel Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church in El Reno. She loved the challenge of doing anything her younger brothers could do on the farm and did her share of tractor driving and other chores. She stayed with elderly people at night, caring for them while attending Hennessey High School. She assisted mothers during child birth and with their new babies afterwards. In 1936, Cecil and her daughter moved to El Reno from Kingfisher, where she met Steve R. Hudson. Steve and Cecil were married Oct. 9, 1943, at Wellington, Kan. Cecil loved to fish, and catching a 14 pound catfish was a thrill. She would challenge you to a pitch game anytime and usually win. Being sure the squirrels in her yard had plenty of corn was a priority. They would come up on the porch and crawl up her leg for a pecan. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 41 years, and the VFW Auxiliary for 53 years. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends who knew and loved her including Irene States of Enid, a lifelong friend, and Kallie dog, her constant companion. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eldora Hawk; sisters, Vinnie Wagoner, Cora Seal, baby Thelma Hawk, Minnie Chitwood, Tina Hutchinson and Hazel Doud; brothers, George, Harold, Leon, Leslie, Arlie and baby Forrest Eugene Hawk, and her husband, Steve of 50 years. She is survived by two daughters, Daydreon Hansen of Calumet and Royalia Howard, her husband Bob of El Reno; grandchildren, Tamara Hopkins of Oklahoma City, Sheryl Hoffman and husband David of Calumet, Steven Hansen of Calumet, Mary Jones and husband Ken of McAlester, Cindy Albrightson and husband Courtney of Weatherford, Cathy Hilsabeck and husband David of Stillwater, and Amy Howard of Tulsa; stepson Jules Hudson of Sun City, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Christa Hopkins of Weatherford, Chad Hoffman of Okarche, Abbie Hoffman of Stillwater, Lori Hoffman of Ada, Gabrielle Jones of McAlester, Brittni, Ariana and Conner of Weatherford, Timothy, Jessica, Kristin and Erin Hilsabeck of Stillwater and Akelah Stafford of Tulsa; two sisters-in-law, Vera Hawk of Yorba Linda, Calif. and Velva Hawk of Enid, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
