Heinen, 88, of Amarillo died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with Robert Field officiating. Arrangements by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Heinen was born Jan. 21, 1917, in Kingfisher, Okla., to Peter and Virgel Heinen. He was raised and started his own family in Tulsa, Okla., and has lived in Amarillo for the last 55 years. Mr. Heinen was a salesman spending much of his career with Golden Light Coffee Co. and retiring from Cains Coffee Co. The family would like to give a special thanks to the LTAC Unit at Plum Creek Specialty Hospital in Amarillo for their compassionate care for Leo over the last six weeks. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Heinen on June 11, 1997; his wife of 51 years, Vergie Heinen on Dec. 26, 2003; three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include three sons, Jim Heinen, Tom Heinen and wife, Kay, of Collinsville, Okla., and Pete Heinen and wife, Jayne, of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Armstrong and her husband, as well as Leo's close friend, Sam, of Riverside, Calif.; six grandchildren, Brenda Brown, Steve Heinen, Dena Edwards, and Dustin, Danielle and Hunter Heinen and their mother, Denese Heinen; and seven great-grandchildren.
