HILLER March 4, 1924 November 4, 2006 Vernon was born in Omega, Oklahoma, the second of four children to Gus and Della Hiller. A veteran of the U.S. Navy he served during WWII. Vernon retired from Greyhound as a driver in 1979, after years of service. With his ready smile and a joke he had heard, he made many life long friendships. These friends and family members were by his and Dell's side during his last illness, calling daily or dropping in for a visit. Vernon has been a member of the Oddfellows, Scottish Rites, Sciots, and the Masonic Lodge for many years where he met and made many more cherished friends. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and health care professionals at Horizon Health Care, Kaiser Hospital, and St. Agnes Medical Hospital. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Hager and her husband Daily; and brother Robert. Surviving family members include his loving wife of 47 years Della; son David; daughter, Karen Phillips, and her daughters Cynthia and Shaaleen; son-in-law, Chad Phillips; sister, Betty Dykes and her husband Jerry, and their children Richard, Suzie and Leticia and their families; nieces, Sherry Waters and her husband Jim and their family; niece, Jeannie Munsey and her husband Gary and their family; niece, Carolyn Muller and husband Roger and their family; Romona Hiller, Roberts window and their sons Kenneth and Jerry and their families, and many remaining family members in California and back east.
