Kimerer was born at Wooster, Wayne county, Ohio, March 24, 1836 and died at his home in Dover, Oklahoma, September 29, 1906. Aged 60 years, 7 months and six days. He was married to Caroline Shipler on March 29, 1859 and to them were born eight children of whom five are living. Mr. Kimerer answered the call of his country enlisting in Co. F 16th Ill. Inft. and served faithfully for 4 years and 4 months. He was a member of the G.A.R. and had been an Odd Fellow for 49 years. Uncle Jack as he was called by his friends and neighbors, settled here when old Oklahoma was opened and since lived here on his farm which joins town on the west. He was well known and respected by citizens of all the county. Uncle Jack had been failing for some time and only two weeks ago he went to Hennessey to take treatment but his ailment refused to yield to the treatment and he was brought home Thursday evening. On Saturday evening about 8 o'clock he passed away in a restful sleep. The funeral was held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The services were in charge of the G.A.R. and Chaplain Vennum spoke of the life of the comrade whose body they were called upon to consign to the grave. Both members of the G.A.R. and Odd Fellows attended the funeral in a body. At the grave the ritualistic services of the G.A.R. were observed. The funeral was the largest ever held in Dover there being an immense crowd, beautiful flowers and sad faces which bespoke the high esteem in which our departed citizen was held. Sixty- one rigs followed the remains to the cemetery. The relatives present were the wife, children, Joe and W. L. Kimerer of Kansas, brothers of the deceased, Susan Crites a sister and Rustus Dene and wife, nephew and niece. Day by day their ranks are thinning One by one they disappear. At each succeeding roll call, Fewer voices answer, "Here!"
