She was born June 16, 1911, to George Boston and Katie Dora Selzer Best. She married John Henry Hopkins on July 25, 1931. He preceded her in death in March 1989. They Farmed and resided in the Reeding area for 50 years. Survivors include one son, John Hopkins Jr. and wife Gladys of Kingfisher; one sister, Pearl Bowler and husband Jack of Lewiston, Idaho; one brother, Don Best and wife Elsie of Kingfisher; three grandsons, and numerous great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Georgia Struck and brother, Raymond Best. **************************************************************************** Wednesday, February 6, 2002 Lee Enix: E520 Lee Enix, 81, of Hennessey died Thrusday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Hennessey. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Christian Church with Rev. Randy Burke officiating. Burial was in Hennessey Cemetery, under direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. He was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Hennessey to C.V. and Bertha Lee Richards Enix. He married Millie Alice Redenbo on June 14, 1941, in Kansas. He was a 1937 graduate of Hennessey High School and valedictorian of his class. He was a member of the First Christian Church, a 32 degree Mason at Coronado Lodge No. 56, a member of the Flying Farmers, and past commander of the American Legion. He was a Cub Scout Master and a Sunday school teacher for the Boy Scouts. He was a custom farmer and had been manager at Producer's Coop and past chairman of the Kingfisher County Democratic Party. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office following 21 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Millie Alice of the home; two sons, Richard Enix and wife Paula of Moore and Earl Enix and wife Candy of Centenial, Colo.; two brothers, Ralph Enix of Kingfisher and Homer Enix and wife Johan of Midwest City; four grandchildren, and one great- granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. --- Maranda C. Driskell: D624 Maranda C. Driskell, 88, of Hennessey died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Terry Bunch officiating. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery, under direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home of Hennessey. She was born Dec. 19, 1913, in the Austin Valley Community near Buffalo to Ashel Hayden and Mary Ellen Austin Wills. She married Clifford Driskell on May 22, 1938, in Hennessey. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1997. They lived in Hennessey where Maranda worked as a beautician until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hennessey. Survivors include one son, Clifton and wife Sandy of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Lynn Clark and husband Bill of Tulsa; one sister-in-law, Opal Wills of Buffalo, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and four brothers. --- Glendean Wildman: W435 Glendean Wildman, 73, of Hennessey died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Bass Integris Care Center in Enid. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel in Seiling with Pastor Orville White officiating. Burial followed in the Brumfield Cemetery, under direction of Redinger Funeral Home. She was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Vici to Luther G. and Edith Canaday Waddle. She married Donald E. Wildman on Aug. 19, 1949, in Cheyenne, Wyo. She graduated from Vici High School. She worked several years at the Ranger Motel and Seiling Lumber. Following her retirement she and her husband moved to Hennessey. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Seiling. Survivors include her husband, Donald of the home; four sons, Charles Wildman and wife Phyllis of Renton, Wash., Neal Wildman and Tony Wildman, both of Hennessey, and Steve Wildman and wife Marilyn of Chelyabinsk, Russia, two brothers, Gerald Waddle of Clinton and Larry Waddle of Chickasha, and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. --- Kenneth L. Smith: S530 Kenneth L. Smith, 66, of Enid died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Enid. A graveside service was held Tuesday in the Dover Cemetery with Revs. Mark LeMarr and Fred Jones officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home of Enid. He was born Aug. 8, 1935, in the family's log cabin near Osage to Phillip and Mary Pannell Smith. He married Shirley Ann Struck of Kingfisher on June 1, 1956. He was a 1953 graduate of Dover High School. He attended Okmulgee Tech. He served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1955 to 1961. In 1967, he moved to Enid and was employed at OG&E until his retirement in 1994. He was involved with the Enid Homebuilders Association, serving as president in 1986. His hobbies were trips to Branson, Mo. and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; one daughter, Lori Pollard and husband Brad of Crescent, and three grandchildren. --- Melba C. Curtis: C632 Melba C. Curtis, 92, lifelong resident of Dover, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 12, 1909, in Dover to John and Ella Maggart Dupy. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lighthouse Praise and Worship Center in Kingfisher with Rev. Fred Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the New Home Cemetery. She married Paul Curtis on March 3, 1934, in Enid. She was a member of the Dover Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Curtis of Enid and Marvin Curtis and wife Chris of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Peggy Thiems and husband Oscar and Marlita Keene and husband James, all of Dover; one sister, Violet Moore of Kingfisher; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and six great- great-grandchildren. "Jacque" Moore, 86, of Hennessey died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at her daughter's home in Ringwood. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church in Hennessey with Rev. Randy Burke officiating. Burial will follow at the Hennessey cemetery. She was born Sept. 5, 1915, at Ringwood to Henry Silas and Lela Perry LaMunyon. She married Harry O. Moore July 20, 1935, in Enid. She was a member of the First Christian Church for 67 years, past worthy matron of Eastern Star Chapter 37, Royal Neighbors, Hennessey Lioness Club and the Rebekah Lodge. She was mother advisor for Rainbow for Girls and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She also taught Sunday school and was a volunteer teacher of English and the literacy program. Survivors include three daughters, Harriett Alvey of Ringwood, Gwen Cline of Hennessey and Patricia Armbruster of Stillwater; one brother, Thomas LaMunyon of Enid; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and one grand- daughter. **************************************************************************** Wednesday, February 13, 2002 Kathleen Margret Hensy: H520 Mrs. Kathleen Margret Hensy, 55, of Kingfisher died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in Kingfisher. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feg. 15, 2002, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mansfield, Mo. She was born Nov. 18, 1946, in Hutchinson, Kan., the first of five children, to Kenneth Moore and Billie Hazelton Keast. She was a 1964 graduate of Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Community Junior College, where she met and married Michael Hensy on May 19, 1966, in Hutchinson. They lived in Neosho, Mo., Grinnell, Iowa, Columbia, Mo., and Mansfield, Mo., where they owned and operated a convenience store for several years. They moved to Kingfisher 1 1/2 years ago to be near her family. Survivors include her husband, Michael Hensy of Kingfisher; two daughters, Heather Reynolds and husband Richard of Kingfisher and Kelly Kourtney and husband Ken of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Bridget Keast and Taryn Kuehn of Kingfisher and Megan Keast of Oklahoma City; one brother, Kevin Keast of Hutchinson, and two grandchildren, Dalton and Whitney Reynolds of Kingfisher. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family requests memorials be made to the Russell-Murray Hospice in El Reno. --- Lou Swinton: S535 Lou Swinton, 75, of Hennessey died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Edmond Medical Center. Funeral services were held Monday at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Meisner officiating. Burial followed in the Enid Cemetery. She was born Nov. 16, 1926, south of Enid to Ray W. and Dora Haseltine Clark Royer. Following high school graduation, she attended Enid Business College. She married William D. "Bill" Swinton on Dec. 31, 1947, in Enid. They lived in Enid until 1977, when they moved to Hennessey. In December 2001 they moved to Oklahoma City. She was a member of the University Place Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Bill of the home; one son, Charles Swinton and wife Barbara of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Sandy Brown and husband Al of Springdale, Ark.; one brother, Robert Royer and wife Elanor of Blytheville, Ark.; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Wilson: W425 (((Photo))) Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, saw the passing of Mrs. Fern R. Wilson of Enid. Mrs. Wilson retired from this life at the Greenbrier Nursing Facility in Enid after a lengthy illness at the age of 90 years. Fern was born May 20, 1911, to Jesse and Charles Rivers and married Warren Wilson in 1937. They were the proud parents of two sons. Fern was a devoted wife and mother, a generous individual, a fun loving practical joker and an avid sports fan. She was born in Greensfield, grew up in Kingfisher, and worked and raised her family in Oklahoma City. She attended the First Christian Church in Medford. She was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed her golden years as a resident of Pond Creek, eventually moving to Enid where she lived out the rest of her life. Survivors include her two sons, Larry Wilson and wife Loretta of Edmond; one brother, Pete Rivers and wife Marie of Napa, Calif.; one sister, Faye Ruth Morris of Seattle, Wash.; two sister-in-laws, Gladys Rivers of Kingfisher and Laura Marie Rivers of Midwest City; two granddaughters, Deborah Wilson of Nashville, Tenn. and Mary Catherine Wilson of New York City, N.Y.; one grandson, Mike Wilson of Stillwater, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Sanders Funeral Chapel in Kingfisher with the Rev. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery at Crescent, under direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent. He was born July 23, 1916, in Crescent to Robert C. and Lillian Irby Steele. He married Louvenia Younger on June 9, 1953. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Crescent American Legion Post No. 200. Survivors include his wife, Louvenia of the home; one daughter, Darlene Crosland of Chicago, Ill.; one son, Leo Steele Jr. of Oklahoma City; one sister, Aletha Mae Richmond of Crescent; nine grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Burial followed in Oakland- Knowles Cemetery, under direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent. She was born Jan. 23, 1936, in New Orleans, La., to George and Thelma St. Alexandre Miller. She married Derrold Niles on Dec. 15, 1965, in Edenburg, Texas. She was a member of the Crescent Take Down Club and was involved in many school activities. Survivors include her husband, Derrold of the home; two sons, Scott Schulz of Crescent and Mark Niles of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Michelle Tarrant of Wichita, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Sherri Niles of Oklahoma City; one stepson, Mike Niles of Mustang; two brothers, George Miller of Pineville, La., and James Miller of Mandeville, La., and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Dewey Porter. --- William Lynn Scheirman: S655 Word has been received of the death of William Lynn "Bill" Scheirman, 80, of Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Kingfisher. He died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at his home. A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 11, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins. He was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Kingfisher to William and Stella Scheirman. He married Marian Thomson on Oct. 6, 1951, in Irving, Kan. They recently celebrated their golden anniversary. He attended Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. During WWII, he was a lieutenant, JG in the Navy. He was a mechanical and chemical engineer. He worked with Black Sivalls and Bryson and later with the Pritchard Corporation and Black and Veatch. He desighned petroleum-processing plants worldwide. He lived in Overland Park, Kan., for 29 years before moving to Fort Collins in 1998. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City; Colonial Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Mo., and the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins. His hobbies were genealogy research in which he edited Usu Leut, a newsletter for descendants of Germans from Russia, photography, music, international travel, nature, the mountains and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Marian; two sons, David Scheirman and wife Susan of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and John Scheirman and wife Dianne Lawson of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Margaret Scheirman of Richfield, Minn., and Kathleen Dean and husband Alan of Fort Collins; two sisters, Stella Heath of Edmond and Mildred Kaye and husband Gerard of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Gene Scheirman and wife Thelma Jean of Houston, Texas; one sister- in-law, Elousie Scheirman of Tonkawa, and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Charles Scheirman. --- Charley Leon Curry: C600 Charley Leon Curry, 91, of Kingfisher died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher. A graveside service was set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah. He was born Aug. 18, 1910, in Harrah to Millard and Ellen Curry. He married Myrtle Short on Aug. 14, 1961, in Oklahoma City. He was ordained as a deacon in 1948 in the Southern Baptist Church and was ordained to the ministry in 1951. He served as pastor in many Baptist churches and started two different missions that are full-time churches today. He was a retired Southern Baptist pastor. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle of Dover; one stepson, Glen Pyle of Guthrie; one stepdaughter, Flora Belle Farrar of Dover; two sisters, JoAnn Perkins of Spencer and Jane Renshaw of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, four brothers, three sisters and one grandson. --- Glenn W. Cooper: C160 Glenn W. Cooper, 90, of Hennessey died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher. A graveside service was held Tuesday at Redrock Cemetery in Redrock. He was born Aug. 8, 1911, in Sears to Robert M. and Amelia Bowles Cooper. He married Cleo Marie Lindsly. He later married Dorothy Walworth on Dec. 26, 1980, in Foraker. He was employed by the railroad and later as a communication lineman for Conoco Oil Company. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; three sons, Bobby Cooper and wife Zarelda of Iowa, La., Woody Cooper and wife Pat of La Mirada, Calif., and Ralph Cooper and wife Gloria of Sandisfield, Mich.; two daughters, Merlene Sullivan and husband Floyd of St. Francisville, La., and Cheryl George and husband Bill of Santee, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Texie Lane and husband Sammy of Kingfisher, and two stepsons. A graveside service was held Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid. She was born Sept. 11, 1911, to Eddie and Florence Jackson Wall in Canadian, Texas. She attended West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon, Texas. She married Marvin Campbell on Sept. 26, 1953, in Shamrock, Texas. They later moved to Enid and then to Kingfisher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. Survivors include one brother, Billie Wall of Seabrook, N.H.; four nephews and one niece. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, in Kingfisher. Burial will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery. She was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Kingfisher to George and Angie Hale. She married John Garms Jr. on Oct. 10, 1948, at the First Christian Church in Kingfisher. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2001. She was a secretary and homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and playing with her grandchildren. She was born Dec. 13, 1927, northeast of Dover, to Charles E. and Edith Rogers Nelson. She graduated from Dover High School. She was employed at Tinker Air Force Base in civil service until her retirement. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Johnson and husband Martin of Mt. Airy, Md.; two brothers, C.J. Nelson of Creedmore, N.C. and Hugh Nelson of Welch; one sister, Betty Hafner of Oklahoma City, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Roger, one sister, Dorothy Will and one brother, Max Nelson. --- Dorotha A. Culver: C416 Dorotha A. Culver, 86, of Perry, formerly of Kingfisher, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at the Greenvalley Nursing Home in Perry. Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Alva Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness with Homer T. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Hill Cemetery in Freedom, under direction of Wharton Funeral Chapel. She was born Nov. 30, 1915, near Farry to Barnes Oscar and Frieda L. Shannon Doud. She married Ervin Chester Culver on July 18, 1933, at Medicine Lodge, Kan. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1982. She attended the old Farry Grade School. The family moved to Wenatchee, Wash., where she worked in a cannery. When she was about 14 years of age, they returned to the Alva area and she worked in a cook shack during harvest. Following her marriage, she lived in Alva. She was a resident of Kingfisher for several years before moving to Perry. She was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah Witness. Her hobbies were gardening and sewing. Survivors include three daughters, Marian Sunderland and husband Donald of Fairbanks, Alaska, Wilma Ridgway and husband Lee of Perry and LaKeata James and husband Eugene of Alva; four sons, Jerrold Culver and wife Peggy of Fairbanks, Norman Culver and wife Marcella and Kim Nolan and wife Pam, all of Kingfisher, and Gene Culver and wife Peggy of Guymon; 19 grand- children; 49 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 14 sisters and brothers, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. --- Fannie Cordry: C636 Fannie Cordry, 83, of Hennessey died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid. Funeral services were held Friday at the First Christian Church officiated by Rev. Randy Burke. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery, under direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home of Hennessey. She was born April 5, 1918, near Hennessey to Walter F. and Nancy Poindexter Bullis. She married Ray Cordry in Loyal on July 26, 1941. She taught school for four years in area rural schools followed by 26 years at Hennessey Public Schools. She was a past recipient of the "Teacher of the Year" award. She was a member of the First Christian Church and sang in the church choir. Survivors include her husband, Ray of the home; one son, Dr. Ray Cordry Jr. and wife Marcia of Hennessey; one daughter, Ann Lavicky and husband Martin of Enid; two sisters, Della Campbell of Midland, Texas, and Jamae Stewart of Enid; one brother, Wilbur Bullis of Dover; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. --- Marsha Dianne Meek: M200 Marsha Dianne Meek, 48, of Dallas, Texas, Goddaughter of Martin and Laverne Schroeder of Kingfisher, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas, with Pastor Robert Preece officiating. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Lutheran Cemetery at Okarche. Survivors include her parents, David and Millee Livingston of Dallas; one sister, Elaine Meek of Tulsa; one brother, Fred Meek and wife Kathy of Texas, and one step-brother, Mark Livingston. She died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002. A memorial service will be held in May. Burial will be held in Banner Cemetery, east of Dover. She was born Jan. 21, 1913, in Kingfisher to W.E. and Eliza Jane Armstrong. She married Royal Whispell in August 1964 in Hughesville, Pa. He preceded her in death in 1997. She was a 1931 graduate of Kingfisher High School. She was instrumental in forming many choirs and musical groups across the United States. Survivors include one son, Charles Pope and wife Donna of Blooming Glen, Pa.; one daughter, June Maddox and husband Rex of Bloomsburg, Pa.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. --- Margaret Evelyn Wilkerson: W426 Margaret Evelyn Wilkerson, 83, of Kingfisher died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in Sanders Funeral Chapel in Kingfisher with Twyla King officiating. Burial will follow in Kingfisher Cemetery. She was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Frankfort, Kan., to Rufus R. and Winifred Evelyn Reust Trent. She married Leon Wilkerson on Aug. 9, 1943, in Sebastian County, Ark. They lived in Lawton, where they operated a turkey farm. They moved to Arizona and then to Kendrick. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Kingfisher. She attended the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include two brothers, Fred Trent of Kingfisher and Jim Trent of Moore; three sisters, Naomi Wallen of Oklahoma City, Pauline Crabtree of Kingfisher and Linda King of Ava, Mo., and Twyla King of Eufaula. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leon, and two brothers, Sam Trent and Neal Trent. --- Clairetta Mae Anglin: A524 (((Photo))) Funeral services for Clairetta Mae Anglin, 79, of Guthrie will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Harmony Community Church, west of Guthrie, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Guthrie. Burial will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery in Kingfisher. Clairetta was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Guthrie to Elvin Alvin and Bonnie Mae York. She went to be with her Lord on Feb. 21, 2002. On July 23, 1939, Clairetta was married to James Olaf Anglin. Of their union were born three sons, identical twins, Dennis and Donald, and youngest son, Jim. As a member of the Rebekah's and Iron Mound Home Demonstration Club, Clairetta enjoyed cooking, canning and fellowship. Clairetta was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf, of 62 years, her parents and two sons, Donald Eugene and James Olaf Jr. Survivors include one son, Dennis and wife Beth of Guthrie; one brother, Richard York and wife Alta of Kingfisher; six grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 1 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Davis Funeral Home and before services at Harmony Community Church on Monday. --- Della Cross: C620 Della Cross, 101, lifelong resident of Kingfisher County, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Sanders Funeral Chapel with Rev. Leon Seaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery. She was born July 1, 1900, in Omega to Rolla and Hulday Elizabeth Smith McAdams. She married Ivan M. Cross on July 10, 1920, in Kingfisher. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was a charter member of the Kingfisher County Home Demonstration Club. She was the cook in charge of the lunch program at Omega Public School and later at Kingfisher Schools. Survivors include two daughters, Hulda Anna Cross Brooks of Mustang and Ida Cross Kemper of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grand- children, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. "Bert" Uhlenhake, 77, of Kingfisher, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Kingfisher with Rev. Darryl Owen officiating, followed by burial in the Kingfisher Cemetery with American Legion rites. He was born April 27, 1924, in Kingfisher to David and Alice Duggan Uhlenhake and was a graduate of Kingfisher High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. After the war, he was employed as a salesman with International Paper Co. in Oklahoma City for many years. He and Doris Farmer were married Feb. 14,1947. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this month. After his retirement, he spent many hours on the golf course with his wife and friends. Survivors include his wife; four nephews; one niece, and a special cousin, Louise Yoder of Kingfisher. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Abernathy Funeral Chapel in Crescent with Rev. Odelle Vanderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland-Knowles Cemetery. He was born April 27, 1927, in Morris to Samuel Willis and Mae Daniels Norwood. He married Eva Lee Vanderburg on Dec. 3, 1949, in Van Buren, Ark. He graduated from Checotah High School. He was a 1949 graduate of Okla- homa State University. He was retired from the Kerr-McGee Company where he worked as a health physicist and manager. Survivors include his wife, Eva of the home; three sons, Samuel Kent Norwood of Lake Jackson, Texas, Daniel Leo Norwood of Benton City, Wash., and Michael Wayne Norwood of Van Buren, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. --- Bill Altizer: A432 (((Photo))) Bill Altizer, 74, of Kingfisher died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at the Cimarron Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Bird- creek Cemetery at Big Four with Pastor David Krepel officiating. He was born April 4, 1927, at Calumet to Eugene and Lucy Altizer. He married Berchie French Jones on March 3, 1972, in Oklahoma City. He attended Big Four School before going into the service on July 19, 1945 and was honorably discharged on July 10, 1947, after serving with the 60th Infantry overseas in Kornwestheil, Germany. He received the WWII Victory Medal. He farmed for 47 years in the Big Four area. Survivors include his wife, Berchie of the home; three sons, Louis Jones and wife Pam of Kingfisher, Harold Jones of Oklahoma City, and Jerry Jones and wife Nikki of Mounds, Okla.; one daughter, Neva Todd and husband Mark of Kingfisher; nine grandchildren, Jared, Crystal, Kala, James, Holden, Ben, Ceara, Drake and Denise; two sisters-in-law, Neva Smith of Copan, Okla. and Irene Altizer of Oklahoma City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Memorials can be made to the National Alzheimer's Association or Russell- Murray Hospice in El Reno, Okla. --- Mark "Frog" Schroeder: S636 (((Photo))) Mark "Frog" Schroeder, 52, Okarche farmer and civic leader, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Okarche High School gymnasium, with Tom Arms, lifelong friend, speaking. Schroeder was born Oct. 11, 1949, at Okarche to Herbert and Bernadine Schroeder at Okarche. He attended Okarche schools where he participated in athletics. He remained an avid sports fan throughout his life, attending Okarche games in all sports and visiting other schools when his home town teams weren't playing. He married Judy Harris Dec. 26, 1969, in Shawnee. He farmed in the Okarche area and served on the Okarche school board for 15 years. He was a member of the Okarche Lions Club, the Kingfisher Playhouse and was a volunteer at Mercy Health Center and Okarche schools. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; one daughter, Tana and husband Scott Parrott and granddaughter, Alyx, of Okarche; three sisters, Mary and husband Ken Shiner of Kansas City, Mo., Joan and husband Bernie Wortman of Evans, Ga., and Jane and husband Max Arnold of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Dann and wife Janet Schroeder of Okarche; two nieces and three nephews, and his dog, Tucker.
