A Wake services was held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home in Hennessey. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Mason officiating. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery under direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. He was born May 30, 1927, to Walter J. and Gertrude R. Iven Stribel near Hennessey. He married Doris Riddle on Jan. 14, 1948. She preceded him in death. He married Alice Rothmire in Hennessey on April 27, 1973. He farmed and operated a dairy west of Hennessey until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Hennessey Roundup Club. Survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; one daughter, Lana Holloway and husband Tim of Hennessey; one son, Gary Stribel and wife Dona of El Reno; two stepsons, Steve Parrish of Oklahoma City and tommy Parrish and wife Marie of Hennessey; one stepdaughter, Kay Bossa and husband John of El Reno; 17 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one sister, Rothene Davis, brother-in-law, Wayne Davis, and one stepson, Johnny Dee Parrish. ---------- Lois Aileen Neeland: N453 Lois Aileen Neeland, 82, of Enid, formerly of Dover, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at Enid Senior Care. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church Chapel with Revs. John McLemore and Kevin Arensman officiating. Burial will follow in Kingfisher Cemetery under direction of Anderson- Burris Funeral Home of Enid. She was born April 28, 1920, in Kingfisher to Wilford and Ruth Krieble Snethen. She married Roy A. Neeland on Sept. 14, 1940, in El Reno. She was a graduate of Kingfisher High School. She and her husband lived in Omega then Dover, where she was employed as a cook for Dover School. They later moved to Enid in 1973, and she was employed as a daycare worker. She was a member of Central Christian Church and Busy Bee Garden Club. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Neeland and wife Diane of Bison; one daughter, Linda Crabbs and husband Glenn of Enid; one brother, Milton Snethen and wife Mary Ann of Kingfisher; three sisters, Mildred Smith of El Reno, Marjorie Lietzke and Evelyn Schemmer and husband Paul, all of Kingfisher; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband. ********** Wednesday, March 5, 2003 Raymond A. Gritz: G632 Raymond A. Gritz, 82, of Enid, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at his home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Ladusau-Evans Chapel in Enid with Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Burial followed in Garden Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery. He was born April 24, 1920, in Hennessey to Frank "C.W." and Eva Ricks Gritz. He married Pansy Harris on Dec. 23, 1939. She preceded him in death on March 9, 1981. They resided in the San pedro and Monrovia, Calif. area where he worked in the shipyards during the first part of WWII. In 1944, he served in the Army with the 1st Armored Division in Germany. Following the war, he lived in Hennessey, California, Temple, Texas, and then in Enid. He worked as a mechanic for Johnny Steele Mobile and later for Great Plains Coca-Cola. He retired from Coca-Cola in April of 1985. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Enid. Survivors include two sons, Ken Gritz of Enid and Eldon Gritz of Drummond; one daughter, Sylvia Vance of Enid; three sisters, Gladys Silver of Hennessey, Dorothy Steele of Harrah, and Faye Beby of Monrovia; one brother, Billy Gritz of Hennessey; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild. ---------- Laurie Ann Hurst: H623 Laurie Ann Hurst, 70, of Kingfisher died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Leon Seaton officiating. Burial followed in Kingfisher Cemetery. She was born April 11, 1932, at Brooklyn, N.Y., to Herman and Gussie Fisher Schnitzer. She married James M. Hurst in 1969 at Galveston, Texas. She resided in Mississippi and Texas before moving to Kingfisher in 1980. She was employed at Cimarron Nursing Center for the past 15 1/2 years. Survivors include her husband, James of Kingfisher; three sons, Billy and Randy, both of Camden, Ark., and James Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters Rose Artizone of New York and Krystal Dawn Hurst of Kingfisher. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. ---------- Celia Pauline Taylor: T450 City Visitor Dies A Kansas woman died of an apparent heart attack while staying overnight at Sleepee Hollo RV Park north of Kingfisher last week. A sheriff's office report, received Monday, identified the woman as Celia Pauline Taylor, 80, of 111 S. Main St., Williamsburg, Kan. Deputy Sheriff William Huffman said he was called to the trailer park about 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, where Eugene M. Taylor, husband of the woman, told him that Mrs. Taylor had gone to the bathroom and fell. Taylor called 911. Kingfisher ambulance attendants took the woman to Kingfisher Regional Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Huffman said his investigation indicated Mrs. Taylor had a long history of illness and that the emergency room physician, Rob Matson, said she had a heart attack. ********** Sunday, March 9, 2003 Evelyn Lucille Maloney: M450 Evelyn Lucille Maloney of Enid died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid. Funeral services were held Friday in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid. Burial followed under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. She was born in Kingfisher to William Vaughn and Erma Lenora Gannon White. She graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1937. She graduated from Central Business College in Oklahoma City in 1959. She was married to Edwin Leon Davis, who preceded her in death. In 1990 she married Clay Maloney, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was an insurance underwriter for Ken Martin Agency, Messer-Bowers Agency, and Parrish Munger Insurance, all located in Enid. She was a member of American Business Women's Association and was a recipient of Who's Who in Oklahoma in 1974, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid and was secretary for the Sunday school class. She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center for eight years. Survivors include one daughter, Janet Davis of Oklahoma City; two sons, Gary Davis and Larry Davis, both of Enid; one sister, Audry Koeppe of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, her parents and one brother. ---------- Louis Everett Scott: S300 Louis Everett Scott, 81, longtime Omega farmer and dairyman, died Monday, March 3, 2003. Funeral services were scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church in Kingfisher with Rev. Leon Seaton officiating, followed by burial in Kingfisher Cemetery. He was born to Everett Lee and Ida May Oliver Scott on May 20, 1921, in Jones. He moved to the Kingfisher area when he was a young man and continued to live in the Omega-Kingfisher area until shortly before his death. He married Viola Cross on Jan. 17, 1942, and they had three children, Larry Bruce, Ivan Bruce "Taddy" and David Louis. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Kingfisher. Survivors include one son, David and daughter-in-law Mary Lou Kraus Scott of Mutual; one brother, John Eugene Scott of Arcadia; one sister, Margie Evelyn Scott Ogle of Harrah; four grandchildren; one great- grandson, and nieces and nephews. She was born July 12, 1913, in Coyle to Jefferson C. and Melvina Tomlinson Bowen. She married Loyd Barrier on March 8, 1936, in Shidler. Survivors include her husband, Loyd of the home; three daughters, Doris Boyster of Owasso, Melva Owens of Derby, Kan., and Leah Bohor of Golden, Colo.; one son, Wayne Barrier of Sedwick, Kan.; two sisters, Velma Rainey of Ralston and Betty Stockman of Ponca City; one brother, John Bowen of Pawnee; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at a p.m. Sunday at the Seventh Day Adentist Church in Okeen with Rev. Scott Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery, south of Hitchcock under direction of Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., in Okeene. He was born Feb. 14, 1923, at Kosse, Texas, to Ervin an Lula Mae Smith White. He owned a chiropractor practice in Watonga for 41 years. He was an Army veteran, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served on the board. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of the home; one stepson, Donnie Scheffler of Hitchcock; one step daughter, Karen Hopmann of Oklahoma City; one brother, Neville White of Kosse; five step-granchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild. Knierihm of Hennessey; one sister, Marcia Henry of Hennessey, and one grandson. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery under direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuaries. She was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Sioux City, Iowa, to John and Francis Meimer Kraus. Her hobbies were cooking and gardening. Survivors include her husband, Paul; four brothers; Clarence Kraus and wife Agnes, Robert Kraus and wife mary, Edward Kraus and wife Agnes and John Kraus and wife Jeannie; one sister, Elizabeth Ivie and husband jerry, and two sisters-in-law, mary Kraus and Dee Kraus. He was born July 6, 1934, in Pauls Valley to Richard Perry and Juanita Fay Lucas Adams. He married Florence Zawadzki on april 12, 1986, in Crescent. He was a plumber in Crescent for many yers. Survivors include his wife Florence of the home; one stepdaughter, Wanda Dodson of LaPlace, La.; two stepsons, Earl Reichard of Oklahoma City and Gregory Reichard of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Louise Norman of Pauls Valley and Euca Roach of Collinsville; two brothers, Keith Adams and Kenneth Adams, both of Oklahoma city, and seven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Adams. ---------- Wilburn H. 'Bud' Watkins: W325 Wilburn H. "Bud" Watkins, 76, of Kingfisher, formerly of Dover, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Kingfisher. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Street Baptist Church in Kingfisher with Rev. Orville White of Chester officiating. His ashes were buried next to his wife in Dixie Cemetery in Ringling. He was born July 6, 1926, in Hopkins County, Texas, to Clifton and Lena White Watkins. He married Loretta Gaddis on Dec. 14, 1946, in Henrietta, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 12, 1998. He attended schools in Oklahoma and joined the Navy, serving in WWII from 1943-1946. He received an honorable discharge and returned to Ringling. He was employed at Kilpatric Drilling Co. for about 15 years and for seeral other oilfield companies. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Vicki Meacham and husband Greg of Dover, Cynthia Tomberlin and husband Randy of Mooreland, Nancy Huffine and husband Bill of Oklahoam City and Tamara Brock of Rosoburo, N.C.; three sons, Richard Watkins and wife Jackie of Alexandria, Va., Michael Watkins and wife Sherry of Kingfisher and Jimmy Don Watkins of Tulsa; one brother, Jimmy Dale Snodgrass and wife Sarah of Ringling; one sister, Grace Kirk and husband Tom of Enid; 25 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. ---------- O.A. Kennedy: K530 O.A. Kennedy, 64, of Calumet died Wednesday, March 19, 2003. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Calumet with Rev. tim Clausing officiating. Burial followed in Calumet Cemetery under direction of Wilson Funeral Home of El Reno. He was born Oct. 9, 1938, on the Kennedy farm north of Calumet. He married Margie Gleason on April 29, 1956. Following high school, he farmed and trucked until he began working at the rock Island Railroad, where he was employed until it closed in March 1980. He then began contract pumping and farming for Penwright Bros. until taking a position at Diamond Energy, retiring in 2000. Survivors include his wife, Margie of the home; two sons, Mike Kennedy and wife Ann of Fort Smith, Ark., and Keven Kennedy and wife Brenda of Calumet; his mother, Velma Hanes of Yukon; one brother, George Kennedy and wife Linda of El Reno; one sister, Linda Thompson and husband Steve of El Reno, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Chruch in Kingfisher with Rev. Darryl Owen officiating. He was born Feb. 26, 1944, in Wichita, Kan., to Emory and Marge Hauser Ogle. He married Carol Bethel on March 16, 1991, in Kingfisher. He was a 1962 graduate of Kingfisher High School and attended Draughn Business School in Oklahoma City. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He was employed at Gulf Stream Air Craft Company as a sheet metal fabricator until the company closed in 2002. He was a member of the United Methodist church. Survivors include his wife, Carol of Yukon; one son, Terry Ogle of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Cindy Reinhardt of Oklahoma City; his parents; one sister, Pamela Ray Barker of Dover; three stepchildren, Gary Rucker, Brandon Rucker and Amy Lewis, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son. ---------- Lavona Mans: M520 Lavona Mans, 76, of Crescent died Sunday, March 16, 2003, in Crescent. A graveside service was held Wednesday at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, Kan. Burial was held Friday at Resthaven Cemetery. She was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Ranger, Ark., to Kirk and Viola Bailey. She married Dale Mans on Sept. 14, 1946, in Dardanelle, Ark. She graduated from Dardanelle High School. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Lovell Progressive Club and First Christian church in Crescent. Survivors include her husband, Dale of the home; two sons, Jim Mans and wife Linda of Nixa, Mo., and Danny Mans and wife Jeannie of Wichita; two daughters, Debbie ramirez and husband Jacob of Dover and Charlotte Carrillo and husband Art of Winfield, Kan.; four sisters Wands Guillory of Del City, Janette Wallace of Midwest City, and Sharon Larson and Teresa Manhatton, both of Wichita; three brothers, Lynn Baily of Crescent, J.C. She was preceded in death by her parents. ---------- Jack Linden Sandusky: S532 Jack Linden Sandusky, 70, long time resident of Kingfisher died Monday, March 24, 2003, in Kingfisher. A graveside service was set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Kingfisher Cemetery with Dr. ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow. He was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Enid, to James and Edna Garrett Sandusky. He grew up in Kingfisher and was known through the Sandusky Chevy-Olds Auto Dealership. He served as Kingfisher City Commissioner and later was mayor of Kingfisher. He was a member of the Kingfisher Lions Club and Rotary club. He served in the U.S. Nay aboard an ice breaker off the coast of California. He returned home to work for his dad, Jim Sandusky, for many years. He later purchased the business from his dad and sold the business in 1983. His hobbies were football, golf, bowling and racing boats. He attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of Lambda Chi alpha fraternity. Survivors include one daughter, Vanessa Sandusky of Kingfisher; two sons, Kevin Sandusky of Jenks and Jeff Sandusky of Edmond; one sister, Mrs. Gerold (Jimay) Howe of Harlingen, Texas, and one grandson. he was preceded in deathy by his parents. ---------- Emil F. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. He was born July 26, 1903, in Arcadia, Iowa, to Charles and Lucy Vogel Reherman. He married Marguerite Gasson on Sept. 20, 1927, in Okarche. He moved with his parents in 1906 to the Okarche area. He was a farmer. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include four sons, Gene of Wichita, Kan., Robert of Okarche, Walter of Oklahoma City and Elmer of Yukon; one daughter, Emalene Schwarz of Okarche; one foster son, Robert Street of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four foster grandchildren, and 10 foster great-grandchildren. ---------- M. Frank Vrska: V620 M. Frank Vrska, 71, longtime resident of Hobbs, N.M., formerly of Marshall, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in Lubbock Texas. Mass of Christian Burial was set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church with Rev. Mark Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Hennessey under direction of Cordry- Gritz Funeral Home of Hennessey. He was born Nov. 3, 1931, near Marshall to Rochard and Anna Fuksa Vrska. He married Colleen Madsen on June 8, 1953, in Hennessey. He was a graduate of Marshall High School. He graduated in 1959 from Oklahoma University with a bachelor of arts degree and earned a master's degree in administration from Eastern New Mexico University. Following four years of service in the U.S. Air Force, he was employed for 30 years in school administration as a financial director for Hobbs, N.M. schools and served as vice president of New Mexico Junior College. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Colleen of the home; two sons, Tom Vrska of Lubbock, Texas, and Richard Vrska of Las Cruces, N.M., and one granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. tuesday at the church with Rev. Stephen Bird, Father Ed Weisenburger and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial followed in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. He was born July 26, 1903, in Arcadia, Iowa, to Charles and Lucy Vogel Reherman. He married Marguerite Gasson on Sept. 20, 1927, in Okarche.
