Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Saturday, at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home with Lanny Jobe officiating. Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery. She was born Aug. 18, 1912, west of Hennessey to August and Erdie Strickler Schutkesting. She married Edgar "Mutt" Murphy on Jan. 1, 1934, in Hennessey. She was employed as a florist at Oklahoma Floral in Enid during WWII. Surviviors include one son, Bob Murphy of Fort Collins, Colo.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers. ********** Wednesday, May 7, 2003 Wilbur Otto Staude: S330 Wilbur Otto Staude, 72, of Loyal, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, May 2, 2003, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Peace United Church of Christ in Loyal with Rev. Leon Seaton officiating. Burial followed in the Kingfisher Cemetery under direction of Sanders Funeral Service of Kingfisher. He was born Aug. 17, 1930, on the home place near Loyal to Rudolph and Amanda (Wehrenberg) Staude. He married Margaret Lucille Seedorf on April 19, 1953. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. They lived on the farm their entire married life, where they dairy farmed and raised wheat. Upon retiring from the farm, he sold insurance, was employed with Jett Construction, the Loyal gas station and manager of Sooner Coop. He was a member of the Loyal Peace United Church of Christ. He was involved with the Loyal Fire Department, Kingfisher Elks and the Lomega Lions Club, where he was district govenor in 1998-99, and attended the International Lions Convention in England. Survivors include his wfie of the home, two sons, Rick Staude and wife Paula of Watonga and children, Tina and Dustin; Franklin Staude and wife Patricia of Loyal and grandchildren, John and Jay; one daughter, Connie Kimmel and husband Ken of El Reno and grandchildren, Landon, Nicholas, Misty, Heather and Ashlee; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Staude of Tecumseh and grandchild, Emalee Staude and one great-grandson, Andres House, and one brother, Clifford and wife Lil of Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one son, Randy Stude. Gravside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Kingfisher Cemetery with Rev. Derrick Lynch officiating. She was born April 12, 1927 in Anacortes, Wash., to Benjamin and Vivian Jeffries. She attended high school in Washington. She married Dale Edward Clark May 12, 1945, in Washington, They moved to his hometown, Kingfisher, where they owned and operated the Wardrobe Cleaners. They later moved to Angoon, Alaska, where they owned and operated a fishing boat. She returned to Kingfisher to live after her husband's death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviviors include a daughter, Melody Lowe Clark of Kingfisher; a brother, Norman jeffries and wife Barbara of Washington; a sister-in-law, Jo Espolt, the widow of the late Archie Espolt of Kingfisher, and one cousin. She was preceded in deth by her husband and parents. ---------- 'Sam' Schweitzer: S326 Norvin "Sam" Schweitzer, 64, of Yukon, a native of Loyal, died Monday, May 5, 2003, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okarche, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery at Okarche. He was born July 27, 1938, in Loyal and was a longtime resident of Yukon. He had 30 years in military service, including the Air Force and Oklahma Air National Guard. He worked 10 years in law enforcement including the Yukon Police Department and Canadian County Sheriff's Office. He also had worked with Oklahoma County juvenile services. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and Gray Eagles (for retired military personnel). Survivors include his parents; one sister, Taylor Bedford, and maternal grandparents, Bill and Joyce Childs of Hennessey. ********** Wednesday, May 14, 2003 Orin James Buford: B163 Orin James Buford, 94, of Lacy died Friday, May 9, 2003, at Okeene Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at 132 Bible church with L.D. Choate officiating. Burial followed in Hennessey Cemetery under direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. He was born May 4, 1909, in Kiowa, Kan., to John Price and Renna Belle Geery Buford. He married Blanche Elizbeth McGinnis on March 27, 1934. They spent their entire married lives farming on a farm near where they both were reared. She preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2001. He was a graduate of Lacy High School. He was a mamber of Lacy Methodist Church and served on the Lacy School Board for many years. Surviviors include two sons, James Robert and wife Dorothy of Ames and H. Clay and wife mary Beth of Enid; one sister, Juanita Summers of Ames; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. ---------- Fern Spomer: S156 Fern Spomer, 87, longtime resident of Kingfisher, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at her home. A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Kingfisher Cemetery with Rev. Derrick Lynch officiating. She was born Sept. 2, 1915, in Hennessey to W.F. and Fye Bishop Brown. She married Richard Spomer on May 4, 1936, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1981. She was a 1935 graduate of Hennessey High School. They resided in Hennessey, later moving to Kingfisher where her husband was employed at Sandusky Chevrolet. The couple later owned and operated a repair shop, Richard's Automotive Co., for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingfisher. Survivors include one daughter, Alicia Powell of Kingfisher; one sister, Vera Hladik of Kingfisher, and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son-in-law, Bob Powell, two brothers, Dewey Brown and Bus Brown, and one sister, Vivian Allen. ---------- Floyd Roy Hudson: H325 Floyed Roy Hudson, 69, of Kingfisher died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. A graveside service was set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Burial is under direction of Bransetter-Merritt Funeral Service in Oklahoma City. He was born March 18, 1933, in Kingfisher to Phillip Roy and Ethel May Hudson. He served in the Army from 1951 - 54. He was employed at O'Reilly's, retiring in 2002. His hobbies included working on small engines, gun collecting and classic cars. Survivors include one son, Phillip Joseph Hudson of Kingfisher; two daughters, Shannon Cook of Oklahoma City and Melissa Wille and husband James of Guthrie; one setpdaughter, Christa of Chickasha; one brother, Larry Hudson of California, and five grandchildren. A memorial service was set for 1 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church at Turley. She was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Elkhart, Ind. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Marsha Parker of Kingfisher; two grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents and one son, Thomas Parker. ---------- Dorris Rhodell Barton: B35 Dorris Rhodell Barton, 82, of Kingfisher died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Countrywood Manor in Kingfisher. A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Kingfisher Cemetery, with Riley B. Cooper officiating. She was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Kingfisher to Clyde and Carol Lacy Slack. She married George Henry Barton and resided in California most of her life. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the First Christian Church and was employed at Oak Knol Hospital in Oakland, Calif., as a hospital seamstress for many years. Survivors include one brother, Ted Slack of Haysville, Kan. ---------- Terry F. Christy: C623 Terry F. Christy, 65, of Cashion died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Cashion Christian Church. Burial will follow in Cashion Cemetery. He was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Kingfisher to Theodore "Ted" and Eleanor Christy. He married Margie Eakinson April 26, 1958, in Kingfisher. He served in the Army and Oklahoma National Guard for 35 years, retiring as a full colonel. He was employed at Gulfstream Air Craft in Bethany for 20 years, retiring as a safety manager. He was a substitute teacher and little league coach. He was a member of the Cashion Christian Church and Kingfisher Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Margie of Cashion; one son, Craig Christy of Cashion; one daughter, Theresa Homier and husband Danny of Kingfisher; two sisters, Madeline Begg of Great Bend, Kan., and Melvina Christy of Kingfisher; one brother, Teddy Christy of Bethany; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. ---------- D. Wayne 'Dogie' Key: K000 D. Wayne "Dogie" Key, 84, of Longview, Texas, father of Kingfisher resident Dena Hart, died Friday, May 9, 2003, in Longview. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Longview Church of Christ with Benny Bristow and Gary Sanders officiating. Burial was at Rosewood Park under direction of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. He was born July 24, 1918, in Lamesa, Texas. He married Louise Noble on Oct. 12, 1940, in Cisco, Texas. He was the owner of Key Auto Parts in Eunice, N.M. for 45 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Rotary Club, Eunice Volunteer Fire Department and the local school baord, which he served 21 years, seven of those as president. His hobbies were golfing, playing the piano and singing. Survivors include his wife, Louise; three dauthers, Sharon Sanders and husband Gary and Kathy Hermes and husband Lee, all of Longview, and Dena Hart and husband Larry of Kingfisher; one brother, Jack Key of Uvalde, Texas; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeffry Key, three sisters and three brothers. ********** Wednesday, May 21, 2003 Stella Geneva Horner: H656 Stella Geneva Horner, 76, of Kingfisher died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Faith and Vision Pentecostal Church, 200 North 7th, Kingfisher, officiated by Dr. R.L. Miller. Burial will follow in Kingfisher Cemetery under direction of Sanders Funeral Service. She was born May 30, 1926, in Gainesville, Mo., to William and Emma Jane Crisp Taber. She attended high school in Davenport. She married V.E. "Dick" Horner on Oct. 2, 1942. They later made their home in Kingfisher. Stella was a nurse at the First and Second Shamrock Nursing Centers and a minister performing many weddings in the Kingfisher area. No one ever touched Stella's life that didn't lover her and she never touched anyone's life that she didn't love. She attended Trinity Church of God. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Barrett and Polly Hall, both of Kingfisher; two sons-in-law, Bob Barrett and Jim Hall, both of Kingfisher; one brother, Fray Taber and wife Fay of Tulsa; two sisters-in-law, Esther Taber of Shawnee and Helen Taber of Midwest City; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and four sisters. ---------- Lee Roy Broughton: B623 Lee Roy Broughton, 70, of Hennessey died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Phil Fox officiating. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery at Healdton. He was born July 20, 1932, in Saddle Mountain to Alva and Elsie White Broughton. He attended school at Seminole. He married Shirley Fryer on April 29, 1952, in Healdton. He served in the Army and fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed in the oilfields, moving to Hennessey in 1965, where he worked as drilling superintendent for BHP. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; three daughters, Frankie Wheeler and Vicki Martin, both of Enid, and Teresa Cussner of Yale; one son, Mitchell of Hennessey; two sisters, Pauline Love of Tyrone and Elva Fitz of Shattuck; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. ---------- Marvin Edward Fisher: F260 Marvin Edward Fisher, 74, of Kingfisher died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at his home in rural Kingfisher County. Funeral services were scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist church, 1340 S. 13th St., with Rev. Derrick Lynch, Dr. Eldon Moelling and Rev. Kirt E. Moelling officiating followed by burial in Kingfisher Cemetery. He was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Kingfisher to Joseph Lee and Bertha McDonald Fisher of Kingfisher. He married LaVaughn Vilhauer on Dec. 11, 1948, in Loyal. He was a 1947 graduate of Kingfisher High School. He resided and farmed in Kingfisher all of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingfisher. Survivors include his wife, LaVaughn, and daughter Barbara Fisher of the home; two sons, Dennis Fisher and wife Connie of Elk City and Roy Fisher and wife Marie of Woodland, Calif.; a daughter, Beverly Cannon and husband Robert of Okeene; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was born April 26, 1918, in Manzanola, Colo., to Charles and Ellen Tinder. She married Franklin E. Matti on Nov. 24, 1937, in El Reno. They owned and operated a farm west of Kingfisher. She was a member of the Kingfisher First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Audrey Large and husband Harrison of Oklahoma City; a brother-in-law, Junior Matti and wife Loise of Kingfisher and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born Nov. 16, 1955, in Okeene to George and Donna Jo Willis Johnson. She married Ernest Marvin Bredel on April 15, 1989, in Canton. She was a graduated of Canton High School and attended Oklahoma Christian University for two years. She was employed for Dr. Breece, DDS, in Enid as a dental assistant. She earned her CMA and CNA license and had been employed by Kingfisher Regional Hospital, nuring homes in Okeene, russell-Murray Hospice, and at the time of her death with Countrywood Manor LC as a nurses' aide. She was a member of the Kingfisher Federated Church. Survivors include her husband, Marvin; her father and stepmother, George and May Ann Johnson; two brothers, Jack and Don Johnson, both of Canton; two stepsisters, Roxann Allen of Fairview and Elizabeth Burghardt of Hitchcock, and one step-brother, Ben Marks of Seiling. ---------- Namon Claud Dunlap: D541 Namon Claud Dunlap, 84, of Kingfisher died in Kingfisher on Friday, May 23, 2003. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakland- Knowles Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Abernathy Funeral Home in Crescent. Dunlap was born June 13, 1918, in Durant to William Guy and Mary Elizabeth Lancaster Dunlap. He was a World War II veteran and a retired Air Force technical sergeant after 21 years, serving as a vehicle and aircraft mechanic. He married Irene M. Dunlap Oct. 17, 1938, in Kingfisher. Survivors include his wife, Irene, of the home; seven daughters, Mary Thorne and Judith Hill, both of Kingfisher, Donna Bell of Delhi, Calif., Dolly Russell of Modesto, Calif., Linda McClure of Merced, Calif., Victoria Mansell of Lincoln, Ark., and Sandra Novak of Yukon; two sons, Ramon Dunlap and Everette Dunlap, both of Kingfisher; three sisters, Dorthy Monforte of Cleveland, Mary Geneva Blaylock of Ontario, Ore., and Wanda Farrelly of Lawton; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Aylesworth to Edwin and Dorothy Mae Rice Bennett. She married Charlie Roundtree on Feb. 19, 1966, in Kingfisher. He preceded her in death on Jan 24, 1997. She was a housewife. Survivors include one son, Eddy Roundtree of Crescent; one daughter, Tonya Swindell of Owasso; three brothers, Kenneth Bennett of Sacramento, Calif., Donald Bennett of Oklahoma City, and Frankie Bennett of Texas; two sisters, Jo Bamberg of Crescent and Gail Clark of Marshall, and seven grandchildren. Survivors includer her parents; one sister, Singwater, all of Clinton; grandparents, James and Earleane Beaver of Clinton, Patrick Hamilton and Thelma Little Elk, both of Elk City, June Hamilton, Shirley Hamilton and Katie Hamilton, all of Kingfisher; five aunts, Khayla, Kristy, Marianne and Regina Hamilton, all of Kingfisher, and Bobbi Beaver of Clinton; one uncle James Bever Jr. of Clinton.
