Cleo Dupy clark, 89, formerly of Dover, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home in Hennessey with Danny Marney officiating. Burial followed in New Home Cemetery,west of Dover. She was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Dover to William J. and Mary Etta Davis Larkins. She married Alvin L. Dupy on Dec. 23, 1931, in Kingfisher. He preceded her in death in 1972. He later married Ronald Clark. She graduated from Loyal High School. She was employed at Montgomery Wark and Coldirons in Enid. Survivors include two sons, LeRoy Dupy and wife Rita of Enid and Gary Dupy and wife Susie of Taloga; two daughters, LaDonna Robertson of Hennessey and Dina Janssen and husband Fred of Paducah; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. A prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. at Holy Trinity Church with Rev. Don Wolf and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home of El Reno. She was born Oct. 12, 1926, at Oklahoma City to Henry and Rose (Zurline) Wolf. She married Paul Krittenbrink on Oct. 23, 1947. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1950. She married Carl Krittenbrink on Nov. 10, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1987. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary's High School in Oklahoma City. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Holy Trinity Altar Society and Happy Homemakers. He was born April 24, 1963, in Kingfisher to Wilber Otto and Margaret Lucille Seedorf Staude. He married Gloria Weigel in Henryetta on June 2, 1984. He graduated from Lomega High School in 1981. He earned an associates degree in diesel mechanics at Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee. He was employed as an auto mechanic at various dealerships in Shawnee and Seminole and was currently employed at Fowler Toyota in Norman. He attended the Peace United Church of Christ in Loyal and was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church. He was vice president of the Shawnee Soccer Assocation and served as a youth soccer coach. His hobbies were woodworking and fishing. Young, 73, of Kingfisher died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Services were held Dec. 8, in Burden, Kan. Arrangements were under direction of Sanders Funeral Service Inc. He was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Okmulgee to J. Arthur and Florence "Franz" Young Sr. He married Janna Ore on Jan. 14, 1955, in Newkirk. He served in Germany during the Korean conflict. He worked for Texaco for 35 years, retiring in 1988. Following his retirement, he farmed in Kansas until 1997. Stanbrough, 81, lifelong resident of the Big Four area, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. Fneral services were held Monday, Dec. 9, in Oak Streeet Baptist Church with Rev. Kirk Sutton officiating. Burial with full military honors, followed in Bird Creek Cemetery. He was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Kingfisher County to Roscoe and Elsie Pearl Darland Stanbrough. He graduated from Big Four High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific in Okinawa, New Guinea and southern Phillipines Islands. He received the Purple Heart Medal, American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, WWII Victory Medal and Meritorious Service Unit Plaque. He was a mortar squad leader and a member of the Kingfisher American Legion Post No. 5 and National Rifle Association. Survivors include three sisters, Imogene Pennington of Kingfisher, Elnora Viefhaus of Sapulpa and Wanda Houck and husband Merle of Crescent. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, in the Kingfisher Cemetery with Rev. David Krepel officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home of El Reno. She was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Kingfisher County. She was reared in the Kingfisher area and attended area schools. She moved to El Reno and attended beauty school in El Reno. She was a retired beautician and homemaker and a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include one sone, Wayne Houghton of El Reno. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Freier Werner, her husband, Leon Wayne "Doc" Houghton, one brother, Adolph Werner, one sister, Florence Kunneman. ---------- Hester Lessley: L240 Hester Lessley, 91, of Kingfisher died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Cimarron Nursing Center. Funeral services were scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Street Baptist Church with Rev. Kirk Sutton officiating, following by burial in Kingfisher Cemetery. She was born March 13, 1911, at Hillsboro, Kan., to Fred and Sophie Richter Irion. She moved to a farm east of Hitchcock with her parents and later moved to the Omega area. She graduated from Omega High School. She also was a graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma Sate University at Alva, and later taught school at Ames, Alpha and Omega schools. She married Grant Lessley July 30, 1934, in El Reno. They had resided in Kingfisher since 1978. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and extension homemakers. Survivors include her husband Grant and one daughter, Elodee Lessley. She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. ---------- Will Ed 'Hank' Henry: H560 Will Ed "Hank" Henry, 71, of Crescent died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. Saturday, at the First Baptist Church in Crescent with Revs. Mike Channel and Jim Constant officiating. Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery under direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent. He was born March 31, 1931, in Konawa to O.O. and Pearl Wilson Henry. He married Carol Jones on July 12, 1953, in Lovell. He was employed by Safeway-Homeland Grocery Stores, retiring after 40 years of service. He attended Central Baptist Church. He was a charter member and original board member of the Frontier Country Historial Society Museum. His hobbies were coin collecting, golfing, gardening and little league baseball coaching. Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home; two daughters, Jeannine Henry and Virginia Brakefield and husband Warren, all of Oklahoma City; three sons, David Henry and wife Susan of Oklahoma City, and Kevin Henry and wife Peggy and Trace Henry, all of Sapulpa; one brother, H.T. She was born Jan. 1, 1937, in Kingfisher County near Lacey to Franics Marion and Lillie Nealy Fisher. She earned her GED and attended Oscar Rose Junior College where she studied art. She was a member of Union Chapel Church. Survivors include eight children, Molly Gipps, Genie Best Leal and Rose Smith, all of Hennessey, Marion Iven Hutchison and Michael L. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one brother. ********** Wednesday, December 18, 2002 Virginia Hester Richard: R263 Word has been received of the death of Virginia Ann Hester Richard, 80, of Schertz, Texas. She died Dec. 1, 2002, in her home. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 5, in the First Baptist Church of Schertz. Entombment followed in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in San Antonio, Texas. She was born Jan. 30, 1922, to Mr. and Mrs. John R. Hester. She married Dr. Roy W. Richard of Schertz. She graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1940. She was employed by Dr. John Pendleton in kingfisher for several years. She was active in the banking business and civic activities and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Roy W. Richard Jr. of Schertz; one sister, Nettie Lynn "Lindy" Hester Downey of Dallas, Texas, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. ---------- Col. Jack Briery: B660 Col. Jack Briery, USAF Ret., 84, of Shreveport, La., died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Springlake Guest Care in Shreveport. Services with full military honors were held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Forest park West in Shreveport with Dr. Jack Odell officiating. He was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Okay to John and Beulah Briery. He married Edna Marie Gerber on Nov. 23, 1940, in Oklahoma City. He was the son-in-law of the late Marie Gerner, longtime resident of Kingfisher, and the brother-in-law of Adelbert Gerner, longtime resident of Omega. He served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He received his wings in 1943 and was a graduate of Bryan Instrument School in Bryan, Texas, in 1944. He was a flying instructor for many years. He flew the Berlin Airlift. On his return from Korea in 1954, he was assigned to the Office of Special Investigation. He was a district commander while in Vietnam and at other bases. He retired as district commander at Lowery AFB in Denver on Sept. 1, 1970, after 30 years. At Lowery, he was awarded his second Oak Leaf Cluster to the Legion of Merit. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Barksdale Officers Club, Hap Arnold Lodge No. 457, Bethany Masonic Lodge No. 529, Scottish Rite 32 Degree and El Karubah Temple. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Edna Marie; one daughter, Patricia Miller and husband Robert of Hickory Creek, Texas; one son, Michael Briery and wife Lee Dell of Newellton, La.; one sister, Velva Rogers of Oklahoma City; one brother, C.E. Briery and wife Genny of Seminole; five grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. ---------- Harold R. Wehrenberg: W651 Harold R. Wehrenberg, 88, a native of Loyal, died Dec. 15, 2002, in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa with Mark Ellard officiating and Ed Mosier assisting. Services in Elk City will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Whinery-Savage Chapel with Tom Harguess officiating. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. He was born Nov. 14, 1914, in Loyal to Charles and Emilie Fressel Wehrenberg. He was married to Lou Etta Wehrenberg. She preceded him in death in 1983. He married Gloria Hefley in Tulsa in 1986. They moved to Tulsa in 1993. He graduated from Loyal High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. During WWII, he spent five years in active duty with 2 1/2 years in the European theater of Operations, then transferred to active reserve. He was a graduate of the Army Command and Staff School, spending 28 years in active reserves, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He moved to Elk City in 1948, where he was superintendent of construction on the Elk City Airport project. He owned Harold's Ready Mix Concrete Company in Elk City. He later established Concrete Incorporated. He was in the concrete business for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Gloria of the home; one son, Steve Wehrenberg and wife Jennie of Farmington, Ark.; one sister, Sue Mooney of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Albert Wehrenberg of Oklahoma City; three stepsons, David Hefley and wife Charleen of Olathe, Kan., Steven Hefley and Robert Hefley and wife Carla, all of Tulsa; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter, and four step-grandchildren. ---------- Gilbert L. Fisher: F260 Gilbert L. Fisher, age 89, passed away today, Dec. 17, 2002, in the Countrywood Manor Assisted Living Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church in Kingfisher with the Rev. Darryl Owen officiating. Interment will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery, under direction of Sanders Funeral Service. He was born to Joseph and Bertha (McDonald) Fisher on May 29, 1913, in Blaine County, east of Watonga, OK. He has lived in the Kingfisher area all his life. He graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1932. He married Alice Hale on Dec. 23, 1935. They would have been married 67 years next Monday. He attended Oklahoma A&M and Central State Teachers College and taught school for a few years. he has been a farmer and stockman most of his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Kingfisher County Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife, Alice; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Kramer and husband R.D. of Loyal; three sons, Gary and wife Barbara Fisher; Doug Fisher and wife Linda and Greg Fisher, all of Kingfisher; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One brother, Marvin Fisher and wife LaVaughn of Kingfisher also survives him. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Memory Lane. ---------- John Robert (J.R.) Mace: M200 John Robert (J.R.) mace was born Aug. 14, 1914, in Brooken, Okla., to Benjamin Harrison and Minnie Mae (Phillips) Mace. J.R. died Dec. 17, 2002, at Midwest City, Okla. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast, 5005 SE 29th, Del City, with burial following at Arlington Memory Gardens. He was married to Carmen Lee (Allen) Mace on Nov. 29, 1945, in Tahlequah, Okla. J.R. served 49 months in the Army during World War II, 36 months of which were spent in Europe and seven months in Alaska. He served in the Third Army in artillery. Before being drafted to the Army, J.R. was serving as county treasurer of Haskell County, Okla. J.R. was an educator of 42 years, having started teaching at the age of 16 in Brooken and retiring from the Midwest City School system in 1975. He graduated from Quinton High School in 1932. He attained a bachelor's degree of arts and education from Northeastern University in 1942 and a master's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma in 1951. He taught school in the Oklahoma towns of Brooken, Tamaha, Twin Oak, Wolf, Bowlegs, Centerview and Midwest City. J.R. was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge since 1938. He was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association since 1937, the National Education Association and the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medwest City, Okla. J.R. and Carmen enjoyed their retirement at a mountain cabin overlooking Lake Eufaula, which they built together near his birthplace of Brooken, Okla. They spent many hours there with their grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Don Mace and wife DeeAnn of Shawnee, Okla., and Bill Mace and wife Diane of Okarche, Okla.; six grandchildren, Robert Gregory Mace, Ethan Allen Mace, Eric Blaine Lloyd, Jamin Eric Mace, Lauren Amber Mace and Jack Randal Mace, and one great-grandson, Robert Nicklaus Mace. She married Ralph Sampson on July 27, 1981. She graduted from Eakly High School and received her business degree from Southwestern University in Weatherford. She had lived in the Loyal area for the last 16 years. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Loyal. Funeral services were held Monday in the Dover Christian Church with Revs. Jimmy Stitt and Fred Jones officiating. Burial followed in Dover Cemetery. She was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Dover to Harlan and Elva Frans Steen. She married Melvin Martin in Kingfisher. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1969. She lived most of her life in the Dover area and was a member of the Dover Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Sullivan and Linda Grable, both of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; one son, tom of Lawton; one sister, Betty Carmichael of Crescent; one brother, John Steen of Crescent, and two grandchildren. ---------- Minnie May VanHorn: V565 Minnie May VanHorn, 82, of Kingfisher, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kingfisher Cemetery with Rev. Leon Seaton officiating. She was born Dec. 26, 1919, to Francis and Ruth Mitchell Foster at Bridgetport. On Oct. 1, 1937, she married O.E. VanHorn at Kingfisher. She was a member of the Federated Church. She had been employed at the Kingfisher Times and Free Press and Pioneer Telephone Cooperative. Survivors include two daughters, Jan Baustert of Kingfisher and Fayruth Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Kate Francis and Ruth Ann Garrett, both of Kingfisher, and Helen Gravel of Alamo, Calif.; one brother, Andy Foster of El Reno; five grandchildren, and 13 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and one grandson. ********** Sunday, December 20, 2002 {{Photo}} Thomas Edward Dunnigan *born October 22, 1919 *died December 25, 2002 Thomas Edward Dunnigan: D525 Tom Dunnigan, resident of Country Wood manor in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, died on Christmas Day at the age of 83. The son of John Dunnigan and Irish immigrant Mary Cunningham Dunnigan, young Tom delivered telegrams on a bicycle given to him by the Democratic Party of Connecticut. He studied printing and graduated from Boardman Trade School in New Haven. A member of the Connecticut National Guard, Tom joined the Air Corps during World War II and attained the rank of sergeant. After the war, Tom and a group of friends fromed the "Route 5 Boys," enjoying trips to and from New York City, cigars, and general high-jinks. A proud member of Teamsters Locals 447 and 677, Tom drove trolleys and buses for the municipal transit company of New Haven. Tom delivered and sold bread for Continental Baking and met Carmela Civitello during a delivery to a luncheonette owned by her family; they married and established a home in Hamden, Conn. After his retirement from delivering Wonder Bread, Tom kept busy for many years with full-time work at Sergeant's Hardware and then Hemden Surgical Supply. Tom was past grand night of the Father Charles Kavanaugh Council 7124 of the Knights of Columbus, usher at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hamden, Conn., and president of the Residents Association, Homewood Assisted Living, Boca Raton, Fla. Tom was the husband of the late Carmela Civitello Dunnigan of Hamden, Ct., where he lived from 1957 through 1999 before moving to Boca Raton. In 2002, Tom moved to Country Wood manor in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, where he was known for his gentle and friendly demeanor, his desire to greet each day in a coat and tie, and for singing in a fine tenor voice. Tom is survived by his son and wife Neal T. Dunnigan and Virginia Giglio, Ph.D. of Boca Raton and Kingfisher, granddaughters Kathleen dunnigan, Kingfisher, Colleen Dunnigan, Paw Paw, Mich., grandsons Andrew and Daniel John of Gainesville, Fla., brothers John Dunnigan of Port Charlotte, Fla., Edward Dunnigan, Smyrna, Fla., and Eugene Dunnigan (deceased), and sister marion Reynolds (deceased). Services will be held in Hamden, Conn. ----- {{Photo}} George William Harrison Dec. 3, 1915 - Dec. 24, 2002 George William Harrison: H625 George William Harrison, 87, of Kingfisher died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at his home northwest of Kingfisher. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Kingfisher. Rev. Darryl Owen officiated the service. Burial followed at the Kingfisher Cemetery. He was born Dec. 3, 1915, on the family farm in Kingfisher County to Edward and Anna (Kremke) Harrison. He married Maurine Rose Hayes on Dec. 15, 1940, in Muskogee. He attended the Burson School located near the family farm through sixth grade. He graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1933. He worked on the fmily farm in Kingfisher his entire life. He was very proud of the fact that he had only moved one-quarer of a mile from his birthplace during his lifetime. He wasl also a real estate broker at Throckmorton Rel Estate in Kingfisher for 37 years. In the last several years, his time had been devoted to caring for his beloved wife. He had received the ward of Star Farmer of Oklahoma as well as his American Farmer Degree. He was also a member of the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association as well as a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau. In addition, he was involved in the local Rotary Club where he had been named a Paul Harris Fellow. Survivors include two sons, Bill and wife Norma of Amarillo, Texas, and Ralph and Denise of Kingfisher; one daughter, Dian Russell and husband Norm of Claremore, OK; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-gtandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 11, 2002, as well as his parents and his brother, Ronald. Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Price Oswalt officiating. He was born Nov. 3, 1964, in Okarche. He attended Oklahoma City Public Schools. Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Schaefer Skala of Guthrie; two daughters, Kaitlyn Skala of Oklahoma City and Emily Skala of Kingfisher; three brothers, John of Houston, Texas, Kelly of Oklahoma City and Keith of Knoxville, Tenn. Burial followed in Crescent Cemetery, under direction of Abernathy Funeral Home. He was born July 22, 1951, in Guthrie to Arthur Jack and Ida Mae Curley Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Misti Stove of Crescent and Raina Johnson of Oklahoma City; one son, Justin Johnson of Crescent; three brothers, Art Johnson, Buddy Johnson and Butch Johnson, all of Crescent; two sisters, Dollie Cummings and Jack Jones, both of Shawnee, and three grandchildren.
