All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== At the opening of Oklahoma,they homesteaded near Kingfisher, and became the first schoolteacher in the city. Mrs. Sain passed away December 30, 1893. Mr. Sain later was married to Cora Parmlee on October 27, 1895. To this union two sons were born. In the early hours on the morning of March 24, 1940, Mr. Sain peacefully passed away at the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 24 days. He passed away in the faith he had lived, becoming a member of the united Brethren Church when a small boy. In 1900 he united with the Christian church in Kingfisher. He is survived by his two sons, Jay Sain of Kingfisher and Dewey Sain of El Reno, five grandchildren, Kenneth, Francis, Jeanette, Richard, John Sain: three step-children, Carol Nye Cuppy of Hobart, and Ella Nye Tener of Neosho,Mo.; one brother in law, John Parmlee, of Perkins; other relatives and many friends. One grandchild,Mary jo Sain precede her grandfather in death on January 16, 1939. It was said by the step-children, who were here to attend the services, that the happiest memories of their lives were the times spent in the association of their step-father. Services were conducted at 3:30 p.M. Tuesday at the Christian church, Rev. J. Everard Carter officiating, assisted by Rev. H. A. Corton. Interment was made in the Kingfisher Cemetery. I was born in the year 1848,. in that good old buckeye state; the birthplace of many of the nations great, My father was both unlearned and poor and five bright children played 'round the door I am the eldest of the five. by industry and economy proven o'er and o'er, we managed to keep the wolf from the door. I am an 89er. and proud to state, A pioneer of Oklahoma's great state with the proper conservation of our oil and soil, we are likely to be envied by states great and small. The optimism by nature, I can only see the prosperity of my country,noble and free. / with the gates of prosperity widely ajar, the millions of laborers near and afar would seek citizinship's higher plane, and learn from history of Rome, a contented people must own their homes decentralization of abnormal wealth Is the greatest safegaurd of a commonwealth. Give me neither poverty nor great wealth but a large stock of confidence in self.
