All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Altus Times 16 May 2004 Ahrens Mae Ahrens, 84, of Hobart, died Thursday May 13, 2004 at the Elkview General Hospital in Hobart. She was born November 15, 1919, in Paducah, Texas to Isaac and Ethel Mae (Hurley) Beeman. Mae married John Ahrens in 1937 and they moved to Hobart in 1939 from Roswell, N.M. He preceded her in death January 2, 1999. She was a member of the Unity Home Demonstration Club, TOPS organization and was a avid collector of salt and pepper shakers. Mae was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hobart. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, 5 brothers and 1 sister. She was survived by three sons, Lewis E. Ahrens and wife, Louise of Altus, John D. Ahrens and wife, Barbara of Manitou, Jerry W. Ahrens of Elk City; one sister, Naomi Allen and husband, Bill of Carlsbad, N.M.; one brother- in-law, Virgil Hay of Trenton, Neb., two sisters-in-law, Irene Beeman of Roswell, N.M., Bea Ahrens of Hobart and ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Hobart with Rev. Tommy Clark and Archie Godfrey officiating.
