All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 20 Aug 2002 Curtis Wayne Bailey LONE WOLF — Funeral for Curtis Wayne Bailey, 54, Lone Wolf, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at People’s Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf. Mr. Bailey died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Moore Cemetery. He was born March 10, 1948, to Art and Odecye Bailey in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Shawnee High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University, and a masters degree from Oklahoma University. He taught Social Studies at Tomlinson Junior High for 29 years, retiring in 1999. Awards he received while teaching include the Oklahoma Bar Association Award for Exceptional Contributions to Law- Citzenship Education in Oklahoma in 1977; and the Gaylord Oklahoma Territory Award for Excellence in Teaching Oklahoma History in 1995. He was a member of the Oklahoma Educational Professional Standards Board from 1992 to 1995, president of the Professional Educators of Lawton for three years, Southwest Director of the Oklahoma Retired Educator’s Association from 2000-2002, and a member and recording secretary of the Board of Directors of Operation Care. He also served on the OK-AIM oversight committee for disabled people from 1994 to 2002. He was an elder at Western Hills Christian Church, and became the pastor of Lone Wolf First Christian Church in 1999. He recorded radio devotionals, which were played on a local station, and wrote and performed in the 2001 and 2002 citywide Easter cantatas. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Bonner Bailey, of the home; a daughter, Andrea, Elk City; a son, Matthew, of the home; his father, Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Jody Cook, Moore; mother-in-law, Lillie Bonner, Shawnee; his sisters-in-law: Dolores Christian, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Charlyn and Johnny Johnson, Oklahoma City; his brothers-in-law: Joe and Barbara Bonner, Oklahoma City; Bill and Sue Bonner, Shawnee; and Brian Bonner, Tecumseh; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and church members. He was preceded in death by his mother.
