All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bessie Irene Burroughs Bessie Irene Burroughs went to be with her Savior June 26, 2002 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City due to complications from pneumonia. Bess was born January 4, 1933 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to George and Laura McKenzie. The eighth of 11 children, Bess was no stranger to hard work. She pulled cotton with her family and worked at the theater in town while in high school. In 1952 after graduating from high school, Bess moved to Oklahoma City where she started Business School. She went to work at Oklahoma Natural Gas Company that same year and continued as a loyal employee for over 35 years. While bowling on a company team, Bess met Reo L Burroughs. On November 1, 1957, Bess married Reo, her loving husband and sweetheart for almost 45 years. Together they raised their two sons, David and Deron, and two daughters, Nancy and Janie. Family was the first priority with Bess. She loved to go to all kinds of sporting events in which her grandchildren were involved. In her retirement years she and Reo enjoyed many exciting trips to Las Vegas always returning with prizes for the grandkids. Bess was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Reo; son David, his wife Lori, their children Josh, Rachel, Bryan, and Kyle of Edmond; son Deron, his wife Lisa, their son Jacob of Mustang; daughter Nancy, her husband Tom, their daughters Ashley of Altus, and Jennifer and husband Stuart of Santa Cruz, CA; and daughter Janie of Dallas. Bess is also survived by brother Tom McKenzie and his wife Dovie of CA, sisters Mary Brown of CA, Reba McKenzie of McAlester, Hazel Barnes of Norman and Lorene Rich of Australia. She also is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday, June 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel.
