All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Waco Memorial Park--Waco TX Bills, Leta Buttrill Leta Buttrill Bills, loving wife, mother, grandmother and retired teacher/dietitian, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, surrounded by the love of her children, in Bedford. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs Drive, Waco, with the Rev. Steve Ramsdell and Dr. Sidney Roberts, a close family friend, officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth St., McGregor. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cole Funeral Home. Box 1461, 521 Pipeline Road, Hurst, Texas 76053; First United Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs Drive, Waco, Texas 76710; or the Methodist Children's Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, Texas 76708, for memorial contributions. Mrs. Bills was born April 11, 1916, in Snyder, Okla., the daughter of Charles Maley and Margaret Broun Buttrill. With her father being a Methodist minister, the family lived in many Central Texas towns, including Mount Calm, Grandview, Itasca, Cleburne, Penelope, Whitney, Rising Star, Big Sandy and Dawson. She was a 1934 graduate of Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth and earned a bachelor of arts degree in home economics from Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman's University, in 1937, in Denton. On Feb. 2, 1946, she married James Hulen Bills in Cleburne. After 49 years of marriage, he preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1985. During their marriage, Leta and Hulen lived in Shreveport, La., and Waco, where they were active members of First Methodist Church in both towns. Leta was an active member of the United Methodist Women, where she served as an officer. In 1997, she moved to Fort Worth to be closer to her family. While in Fort Worth, she was a member of Hurst United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Survivors: Son, Jim Bills of Nacogdoches; daughters, Leta Barry and husband, David, of Houston, Janet Cole and husband, Michael, of Southlake; sister, Margaret Cole and husband, Charles, of McGregor. She took great pride in her grandchildren, granddaughter, Leta Margaret Barry and her husband, Tony Baer, of New York City, N.Y.; grandson, David Andrew Barry of Washington D.C.; granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Cole of Boston, Mass.; and granddaughter, Taylor Sutherland Cole of Southlake. All have been recipients of their grandmother's great love and many handmade gifts.
