BOTTOM - Earl "Frank," 76, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007. He was born July 25, 1931, in Hobart, OK, the son of Thurman and Kate Bottom. After attending the University of Oklahoma, where he studied voice with the British opera star, Dame Eva Turner, he moved to California in the 1950s, living for over three decades in Glendale, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles. During that period, he sang with the Persian Garden Quartet and had the leading role of Count Almaviva in a 1967 production of Rossini's "Barber of Seville." Frank also co- owned a record store and several commercial properties and was a purchasing agent for a PVC manufacturer before moving to Tulsa in 1989, became an active volunteer with the Tulsa Opera Guild and serving as its president from 1994-96. Frank loved traveling to England, Egypt, and Australia and had a real passion for animals, raising pugs for over 40 years and later getting animals from P.A.W.S. He also took great joy from sharing one of the largest collections of 78 rpm, LP, and CD operatic recordings in the country with friends, whom he invited countless times to his home for evenings of selected favorites, providing background and anecdotes to introduce each. Frank is survived by: his longtime partner, Phil Beyernheimer; and cousins, Jack Smith of Plano, TX, and Jan Polumbus and husband, Michael Lackey, Mark Polumbus and wife, Marilyn and 3 children, and Pat Polumbus of Tulsa. Donations are suggested for Tulsa Opera. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Adams Crest Cremation.
