Cummings HOBART — Dorothy M. Cummings, 95, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, in the Good Samaritan Center in Hobart. Service was to be at 10 a.m. today in the Hackney-Gish Funeral Home Chapel in Hobart with the Rev. Tommy Clark officiating. Burial was to be in the Gotebo Cemetery. Mrs. Cummings was born Jan. 1, 1907, in Gotebo, Oklahoma Territory, to Mr. and Mrs. George W. Martin, Sr. She graduated Gotebo High School in 1925. She married Ben F. Cummings on July 25, 1925, in a chapel at the foot of Mount Scott in Medicine Park. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1966. She and her husband lived many places during their 41 years of marriage including Borger, Texas, Shawnee, Gotebo and Clinton, and from there they traveled to Columbia, South America, where she enjoyed four of her happiest years, in the tropics with her flowers and plants. After returning from South America, they resided in New Mexico before returning to the Clinton-Arapaho area. She and her husband fulfilled their lifelong dream of building a cabin at Lake Lugert. Here they enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, gardening, mountain hiking and flowers. Survivors include two daughters, Oma Lee Van Heel of San Benito, Texas, and JoAnn Allen of Hobart; four grandchildren, Laura Wright, Deborah Nichols and Vickie Kusek, all of Oklahoma City, and Leah Berning and her husband, Scott, of Duncan; four great-grandchildren, Shawn, Natalie, Michell and Rachael; three great-great grandchildren.
