The Rev. Jess DeBord

SAMNORWOOD - The Rev. Jess DeBord, 71, of Sacramento, Calif., and a former 
resident of Samnorwood, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Samnorwood Baptist Church with the 
Rev. R.L. Porter of Lubbock officiating. Burial was in Plymouth Cemetery 
by Adams Funeral Home.

Rev. DeBord was born in Roosevelt, Okla., and graduated from Samnorwood 
High School in 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II. He 
attended Texas Tech University.

Rev. DeBord was a Southern Baptist minister from 1961 until his retirement 
in 1992. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Rio 
Linda, Calif.

He married Jeralene White in 1948 at Lubbock.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale DeBord of Carmichael, Calif., 
and Gary DeBord of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Cheryl Gribble of 
Andrews; two sisters, Georgia Lowe of Muleshoe and Flo Fuller of Tyler; 
and four grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to Plymouth Cemetery.
