Elkins went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2003. Josie was born to Abraham and Martha Kirkpatrick on December 18, 1910, in Mountain View, Oklahoma. She had six sisters and one brother. Josie was married to Bill Sr. for 68 years prior to his death in 1998. Bill and Josie have two sons, Donald and Billy, and two daughters-in-law, Chris and Anita. They also have four grandchildren, Jon Elkins, Eva Marie Flores, Don M. Elkins and Lori Anne Marion and six great-grandchildren, Joanna Flores, Jessica Elkins, Breanne and Brooke Slikker, Courtney and Jordan Marion. Josie Elkins, a highly respected, devoted and loved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend leaves many wonderful memories. Josie touched many lives before going home to be with the Lord. Josie was a devoted Christian. She believed in God with the kind of faith that caused her to be a positive force in her family, church and community. She became a member of Delano Assembly of God Church in 1935. She served as a Sunday school teacher, held Bible studies in her home and church, and helped with multiple church functions. Josie was known to many as a Prayer Warrior. She was truly a lady that loved God. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 10, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at the First Assembly of God Church, 2222 - 9th Ave., Delano, CA.
