All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm +========================================================================+ The Chickasha Express-Star 12 December 2003 ROSE MAE ELKOURI Rose Mae Elkouri was born December 10, 1909, in Roosevelt, Oklahoma, to George and Martha Toma. She passed peacefully from this life on her birthday, Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at her home in Anadarko, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years, surrounded by her loving family. Rose grew up in Granite, Oklahoma. She and Frank Shaff Elkouri were married in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on September 5, 1926. They lived in Roosevelt until moving to Anadarko in 1931. After being in business with Frank's sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Ed Jabour, in the Leader Store for a few years, Frank and Rose opened their own clothing store and shoe store. The Famous, which they operated for more than 50 years. Rose was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a life member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, on Nov. 10, 1995, her son, Dr. Harvey Elkouri, on Oct. 4, 2000, 2 brothers, Dr. Kay Toma and Dr. Jeff Toma, 4 sisters-in-law, Delores Elkouri, Ruby Misleh, Rosa Shadid and Edna Jabour, and her husband, Ed. Survivors include 3 daughters, Fay David is Downey, California, and Kay Keys of Anadarko, and Marilyn Silva Lund and her husband David of Sherman Oaks, California; 1 daughter-in-law, Delores Elkouri of Chickasha; 7 grandchildren, Sharon Elkouri of Denton, Texas, Paul Elkouri and wife Debbie of Norman, Karen Hart of Oklahoma City, Frank Elkouri of Norman, Kayla Salazar and husband Steve of Downey, Dr. Roy Keys and wife Anne of Kentucky, William Silva and wife Krisanta of Carmel, California; 8 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandson; 2 brothers, Dr. Paul Toma and Dr. Ernie Toma, both of California; 3 sisters, Norma Nix and Delores Betor of Downey, and Jaynell Locke of Haileyville, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Henry Elkouri and wife Gertrude of Fort Worth; sisters-in-law, Betty Toma of Weatherford and Ellen Toma of California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, good neighbors, loving friends, and 3 special caregivers, Monnie Hargus, Brenda Villalba and Angela Villalba, all of Anadarko. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 13, at the First Baptist Church with the pastor, Dr. Randy Richardson, officiating.
