Funeral Services were held September 9, 2009 in Fort Worth, Texas with burial in Laurel Lands Memorial Gardens. She was 89 years old. Pall bearers were David Burns, Ronnie Burns, Virgil Edson, James Edson, Jon Edson, Albert Smith, and Kasey Cantrell. Emma Lee was born on September 9, 1919 near Snyder, Oklahoma, to Winnie Dell Hogue and Frank McKinney Smith. She married Calvin Eugene Edson October 14, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1993 after 53 years of marriage. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. Emma Lee was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. She and her family lived both at Durham and Cheyenne, Oklahoma before moving to Fort Worth, Texas in 1952. The last eight years of her life she lived in Estate Health Care of Fort Worth, Texas, where she was loved by everyone. In 2007 she was elected Queen of the Estate by the other residents. Her family was a very important part of her life, and especially one of her greatest treasurers was her grandchildren who spent many happy hours with her. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, James Eugene Edson; and her parents. She is survived by her three children, Virgil and Pat Edson of Crowley, Texas; James and Nancy Edson of Crowley, Texas; and Alice Tolleson of Burleson, Texas seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Albert and Joan Smith of Durham, Oklahoma; two sisters, Edith and Lavern Campbell of Crockett, Texas; Winna Mae and David Burns of Duncan, Oklahoma; 3 nephews, 4 nieces, one aunt and a host of other friends and relatives.
