Hays went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on November 27, 2007, at the age of 78 years. He was born to Cletis Daniel and Willa Kennimer Hays on November 21, 1929 in Hobart, Okla. He grew up in Flint, Mich. After serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force for three years during the Korean War, he attended Michigan State University for 20 consecutive quarters, earning his Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. in the field of Philosophy. After teaching in both Christian colleges and secular universities (including Southern Oregon College in the late 60s), he retired in 1979. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of 45 years; his brother, William Carl Hays of Flushing, Mich.; his sister, Nancy Hays of Avalon, Calif.; and nephews, Daniel and David Hays; niece, Cheri Hays; four grand-nephews and one grand-niece, all of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lloyd enjoyed following his Alma Mater's football and basketball teams. He also enjoyed camping and reading, especially the Bible which he read through numerous times. He was frequently heard to personalize his favorite verse, Acts 16:31 - "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." A memorial service will be held December 8th at the Ashland First Baptist Church, 2004 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the above church.
