Herd, who passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Yakima Regional Hospital. He was born in Snyder, Okla., on July 31, 1936, and resided in Yakima for 30 years. The last 30 years he lived in Portland, where he worked as a parts manager for Ron Tonkin Chevrolet. Kenneth also spent many years as Chief Stewart for NASCAR. Always a car enthusiast, Kenneth collected Corvettes and muscle cars. He was an active member of the Vintiques and Pacific NW Convertible Car Clubs. He also enjoyed boating, water-skiing, camping, motorcycle riding and dancing. Kenneth loved spending time with his family and close friends, and enjoyed going home to Yakima for family reunions, birthdays, the fair, holidays and Vintiques. He is survived by his wife, June Herd, of Portland; daughters, Debra Guerin (Timothy), Diane Schafer (Jeff); and son, Dallas Herd, all of Yakima; seven grandchildren, Garry, Jason, Doug, Katie, Holly, Heidi and Jessica; and three great-grandchildren; as well as an aunt and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 9th Avenue Chapel, Yakima. Donations may be made in Kenneth's name to donor's charity of choice in c/o, Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima WA 98902. Keith & Keith Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
