Earl Wilburn Johnson

Earl Wilburn Johnson, 86, died Friday, July 4, at Mercy Hospital in 
Oklahoma City. Services were Monday at First Baptist Church in Hobart. 
Burial was at Lone Wolf Cemetery. People's Funeral Home in Lone Wolf 
handled arrangements.

Mr. Johnson was born May 8, 1917, south of Granite in Greer County, the 
middle of seven sons born to Frank and Veachel Johnson. He grew up south 
of Lone Wolf near Mt. Tepee. He graduated from Lone Wolf High School and 
attended Southwestern Teachers College in Weatherford. He married Lillie 
Thur July 7, 1940. They reared three children, Tom, Ken and Pam. The 
couple moved to California in 1942 where Mr. Johnson worked for Northrop 
Air Craft Corporation. They returned to Oklahoma in 1948. For the next 25 
years Mr. Johnson owned and operated Johnson Oil Company. He sold the 
business and returned to full-time farming and ranching. The couple moved 
to Hobart where they lived until Lillie died in 1979. Mr. Johnson married 
Doris Gray in 1981. He retired in 1985. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson enjoyed 
traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. They were active in 
First Baptist Church in Hobart and lived in Hobart until earlier this 
year.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillie; and 
youngest brothers, Frank and Ike.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Doris of Yukon; sons, Tom of Oklahoma 
City and Ken and wife, Maggie, of Camdenton, Mo.; daughter, Pam and 
husband, Bob Talley, of Norman; step-daughters, Doris Ann Gaines and 
husband, Paul, of Weatherford and Lisa Floyd and husband, Tom, of Yukon; 
grandchildren, Dawn, Tom, Sherrie, Ben, Kenny, Greg, Nikki, Jarett and 
Taylor; great-grandchildren, Riley, Kaleigh, Jeremy and Gabrielle; 
brothers, Sid and wife, Cora Lee, of Hobart, Carmon and wife, Lucille, of 
Midwest City, Royce and wife, Frieda, of Midwest City, and Paul and wife, 
Bea, of Northridge, Calif.
