All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sebastopol Memorial Lawn--Sebastopol CA Santa Rosa Press Democrat Published on December 28, 1996 PRESLEY KOEBELEN Presley "Pete" Koebelen, who retired in 1986 after 31 years as a Central Office installer for American Telephone & Telegraph, died Christmas Day at a Santa Rosa hospital. He was 65. Born in Lone Wolf, Okla., Koebelen came to Sonoma County 58 years ago from Oklahoma. He graduated from Pacific Christian Academy in Graton. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He and his wife, Jacqueline Koebelen, were married 34 years. She died in 1989. They lived in Rohnert Park. Gary Koebelen of Rohnert Park said his father helped stage benefits to aid other families as a Citizens Band radio operator. "He had a love for people. He would stop and talk to anybody," said his son. Koebelen enjoyed bowling, fishing and boating. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Retired Communications Workers of America, a past commander and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rohnert Park and Cotati, and a member of American Legion Post 338 in Rohnert Park. He also was a member of the Good Sams travel group. In addition to his son, Koebelen is survived by another son, Rickey Koebelen of Rohnert Park; daughters, Brenda Conner and Kim Soldavini, also of Rohnert Park; sisters, Jackie Cocke of Napa and Theresa Caudell of Clearlake Oaks; stepdaughter, Jody Davis of Sebastopol; stepson, Nick Baumgartner of Mancos, Colo.; and six grandchildren. Friends can visit from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Parent- Sorensen Mortuary in Sebastopol. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
