Lackey 1911 - 2002 Chapel services for Albert J. Lackey will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Hillcrest Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary. Albert was born in Cambria, Oklahoma on December 7, 1911 to a Baptist Minister and his wife, George and Mary Bell Lackey, and was the oldest of 9 children. He went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2002. He married Vivian Rush of El Reno, Oklahoma and they moved to Bakersfield and the Rosedale area in 1942. Albert has been a teacher, principal and superintendent in the educational system for 39 years. He has taught in Rosedale, Buttonwillow and Hanford. Albert was a charter member of the Greenacres First Southern Baptist Church and the First Southern Baptist Church of Buttonwillow. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #583 in Wasco and the Bakersfield Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree. He has always been very involved with the P.T.A., Boy Scouts, California Teachers Association, Lions Club and was appointed City Attorney of Buttonwillow in 1956. Albert was preceded in death by three wives, Vivian Rush Lackey, Rosa Ellen Flowers Lackey and Florence Becky Lackey. He is survived by his son, Gaylord Lackey and wife, Sue; daughter, Gail Thorpe and husband, Mark; daughter, Cindy Blankenship; 7 grandchildren, Sherri, Scott, Charlotte, Cheryl, Curtis, Jessie and Amanda and 10 great- grandchildren.
