Miers Funeral for Hazel A. Miers, 93, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Philip Seeton, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Miers died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at a local hospital. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, with the Rev. Ray Ackerman, pastor, St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiating. A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Pete Dulcamara, deacon, Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating. She was born May 9, 1909, in Snyder, to Bruce and Laura Bell Morrow Varner. She worked as a telephone operator in Oklahoma and California during the 1920s. She married Lester Clinton Miers on Feb. 9, 1930, in Henrietta. He died April 10, 1988. She was a member of the Ladies Home Demonstrators Club, and involved in visitation of the sick at local hospitals. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church since 1990. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas R. and Jane Miers, Jefferson, Md.; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Sue Ballard, Lawton; Louise and Harold Ritchardson, Texarkana, Texas; and Sandra and Jerry Carr, Fresno, Calif.; a sister, Oleta Johnson, Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
