All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Daily Oklahoman 3 Oct 2003 Theo Parsons SNYDER — Funeral for Theo Parsons, 94, Snyder, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Snyder First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Flowers, pastor, officiating. Mr. Parsons died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, in Altus. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder, under direction of Becker Funeral Home, Snyder. He was born Sept. 30, 1909, in Snyder, to Arch and Mary Lou Howard Parsons. He attended schools in Snyder, and graduated from high school in 1927. He worked on gasoline tankers between Port Arthur, Texas, and South America. He also worked in the CCC Camp in Colorado in 1933. He married Mary Emma Durbeck on Oct. 20, 1934 in Little Rock, Ark. She died in December 1985. He later married Naomi Ruth Middleton, and she died in December 1998. He farmed near Snyder for many years, and also worked for Cameron Lumber Co. He worked in civil service in the Altus Air Force Base Commissary until his retirement in 1978. He helped build several buildings in Snyder including the high school and city hall. He was a member of Snyder First Baptist Church where he was treasurer and taught Sunday school for many years. He was recognized as Snyder’s Oldest Living Citizen in the 2002 Centennial Celebration. Survivors include a son, John D. Parsons and his wife, Diane, Lake City, Minn.; four grandchildren: David Adair, Indianapolis; Wayne Krause, Snyder; Linda Cordell, Oklahoma City; and Barbara Krause, Hastings, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
