Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of First Christian Church of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Tufford was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Roosevelt, Okla. He had been a Dumas resident since 1952. He married his wife Norma on Nov. 15, 1952, in Vernon. He was a member of First Christian Church of Dumas. He retired as an operator from Diamond Shamrock in 1987 after 34 years of service. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 1, 1995; and a grandson, Shawn Bell, on June 6, 1991. Survivors include a son, Danny Tufford and wife, Helen, of Dumas; three daughters, Judy Crain of Denver, Marcia Merrill and husband, Steve, of Amarillo and Karla Bell and husband, Kent, of San Antonio; two sisters, Letha Mae Finch of Hammond, La., and Melva Davis of Hobart, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Kyle, Allan, Paul, Patrick, Neal and Jeffrey; and a great-grandchild, Thomas Rogers. The family will be at 412 S. Meredith in Dumas. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second, Dumas, TX 79029. Amarillo Globe-News, March 17, 2002
