All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Mobeetie Cemetery--Mobeetie TX Pierce Walker MOBEETIE - Pierce Walker, 97, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in Wheeler. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church with Dick Irvin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mobeetie Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Walker was born Sept. 20, 1907, to Ollie and Mary Walker on the family farm at Mobeetie. He attended school at the Totty School and at Mobeetie. He married Nettie Henderson on May 28, 1930, in Hobart, Okla. Mr. Walker lived in Mobeetie all his life, moving only twice in 97 years, once was across the road to start raising his family and again in 1968 to the town of Mobeetie. Mr. Walker was a farmer and rancher. Pierce and wife, Nettie, were very active in First United Methodist Church. Mr. Walker was one of the first in organizing the Old Settlers' Reunion. He had been the oldest resident at the Old Settlers' Reunion since 1986, receiving many awards with great honor. Pierce's favorite hobby was spending time with his family. He was also a civilian firefighter at the Pampa Air Force Base during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998; a daughter, Aline Corse; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Walker of White Deer; a brother, Kenneth Walker of Dumas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Church of Mobeetie or to Odyssey Health Care of Amarillo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Wheeler.
