Graveside services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired Assembly of God minister of Dumas, officiating. Arrangements were by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Hammontree was born in Quinton, Okla., and had been a Dumas resident since 1951. He retired from American Zinc and had also worked for North Plains Research for 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Marie Barker in 1939 at Wilburton, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, B.W. Hammontree of Dumas; three daughters, Rose Mary Dockins of Mobeetie, Nancy Rice of Dumas and Sally Becher of Athens, Ga.; a brother, Herman Hammontree of Spiro, Okla.; two sisters, Rena Shephard of Mississippi and Gladys Elzie of Farmington, Ark.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Alzheimer's Association Panhandle Chapter, 2200 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106. They will be at 1009 Bruce.
