At 2 J.R.WHITESIDES died Tuesday in a Tulsa Hospital after an extended illness. He was 63. WHITESIDES was born Oct.23, 1911 in Red Oak. He attended the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur. He was a member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church before moving to Tulsa, and was a member of the Boston Avenue Methodist Church. He was a member of the Delta Masonic Lodge, Wichita, Kansas. WHITESIDES had been employed by the McAlester News Capital and the Tulsa World. Survivors include his wife, Eva, of the home; three sisters, Leah PICKLE and Robbie DUNLAP, both of Dewey; Mary AUSTIN, Wichita; one sister-in-law Ruth AYCOCK, of California; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Thursday at 2 pm in the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Wilburton. Rev. Ray MENARD officiated and Rev. LaVerle CARRINGTON interpreted the services for the deaf. Arrangements were under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.
