Gatlin shot and killed G.W. Collier and was himself wounded in the left arm. The parties lived near each other and both claimed to have a lease on a certain tract of land, both being con-citizent. Collier wired up gates during Gatlins absence from home, and when that gentleman remonstrated with him quarrel ensued. Gatlin went home after the difficulty, and in a few minutes saw Collier coming with a Winchester. Gatlin got his gun and went out to meet his adversary. Both fired, the shots being very near together. Two shots were fired by Collier and three by Gatlin. Gatlin came to town at once and gave himself up to the officers. He had an examining trial before Commissioner Pleiffer Wednesday and was held to await action of the grand jury, bond being fixed at $1,000, which was readily given.
