April 2nd 1:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held Tuesday April 2nd at 1:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 1705 17th Street, for Margaret Booth Shaw, 79, who passed away peacefully in Memorial Hospital on Friday March 26, 2002. Pastor Bill Stephens will officiate. Margaret was born August 4, 1922 in Leflore, Oklahoma to Dr. and Mrs. George Booth Senior. Margaret was educated in Oklahoma and graduated, with honors, from Oklahoma State University. She met her future husband, Wayne Shaw, during their college years and they just recently celebrated their fifty-six years of marriage. They moved to Bakersfield in 1952 and raised their four children. Margaret taught in numerous schools, retiring from Eissler School, after twenty-six years of teaching. She was a member of Retired Teachers, Delta Kappa Gamma, Society International-Delta PI Chapter, and the First Presbyterian Church. Margaret will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother, who found joy in her family. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dr. Graham Booth. She is survived by her husband Wayne Shaw; her four children Janet Shaw, Linda Bernard and husband Dave, Alex Shaw, David Shaw and wife Sonja; Grandchildren Jennifer Shaw, Natalie Shaw, and Spencer Bernard; sisters Mary Beck, Phyllis Adams; brothers Dr. George Booth Jr., and Dr. James Booth, all residing in Oklahoma. In Margarets passing, she leaves behind many friends and loved ones who will always remember her as a sweet, compassionate person. She will be missed by many friends and especially by former co-workers who have become lasting friends. She has been an outstanding teacher and was known for her thoughtfulness, kindness, inspiration, dedication, and love for teaching. A private graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., with Pastor Chris Grange officiating. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Margarets name to the First Presbyterian Church of Delta Capa Sr. Visitation will begin Monday April 1st at 3:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel.
