All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::College City Cemetery--College City CA Marysville Yuba City Appeal Democrat Feb 22, 2002 Chester Burgess Chester Burgess, 74, of Arbuckle died Feb. 21, 2001, at Alderson Hospital in Woodland. Born in Poteau, Okla., he was a Mid-Valley resident for 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II, served in the U.S. Army and Air Force from 1944 to 1947 and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired school bus driver and worked for Harry's Barber Shop in Woodland. He was pastor of the Free Will Baptist Church in College City from 1967 to 1978 and was a member of the College City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Arlene Burgess of College City; two sons, Bill Burgess of Poteau, Okla., and Chester Burgess of Oakland; a daughter, Deborah Wilson of Galt; a stepdaughter, Susie McCullough of Arbuckle; a stepson, Jeff Phelan of Arbuckle; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Danny Phelan. Services: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McNary-Moore Funeral Chapel in Colusa. Services will be at noon Saturday at the chapel.
