Callaghan, Mary

Mary Callaghan went home to be with the Lord October 9, 2006. Born on 
April 19, 1925 in Spiro, Oklahoma, to William and Ruth Brown. Mary 
grew up in Arkhoma, Oklahoma, and moved to Bakersfield in 1952. She 
worked for San Joaquin Hospital for twenty-five years as a nurses 
aide until her retirement. Mary will be remembered for her beautiful 
smile, and her fun loving spirit. She was a longtime member of the 
Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 97, and the Women's Auxiliary of the 
American Legion Post 26. Mary was preceded in death by her husband 
Kelly, son William, grandson William JR., and sister Katherine. She 
is survived by her sisters Frankie Lynn; Betty House of Arkansas, Sue 
Buckner of Missouri. Brother Marion Brown of Grover Beach, 
California. Her son's and their spouses, John and Joyce Sterling, 
Jerry and Ruth Sterling, Shelby Sterling, Bobby and Mary Lou Sterling 
and Kenneth; Cindy Callaghan. Twelve grandchildren and eleven great-
grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on 
Saturday October 14, 2006 at Greenlawn Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane. 
Visitation is scheduled for Friday October 13, from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 
p.m.. Pallbearers will be Shelby JR., Travis, Scott and Bruce 
Sterling, Brandon and Nathan Tudor. Honorary Pallbearers are Bryce, 
and Blake Sterling, and Ronnie Amason. At Mary's request in Lieu of 
flowers please make donations to Optimal Hospice . Mary Jane
