All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Ivy Lawn Memorial Park--Ventura CA Evans, Flora Cathern Flora Cathern Evans passed away Dec. 18, 2006, in Newport, Wash., at the age of 83. Flora was born May 30, 1923, in Stoney Point, Okla. She was married to Robert Lee Evans for 63 years until his death in 2001. She was very proud of her Choctaw heritage and of her grandfather, who was orphaned on the "Trail of Tears." She lived through the Depression and worked hard all her life. She was a dedicated mother of six children. When they were grown, she went to work at the Ventura County Hospital as a nurse's assistant until her retirement in 1984. Her passion was working at the hospital and taking care of patients. She is survived by her sister, Dortha Sue Birch; and children Doris Benoit, Carolyn Holland and husband Joe, Barbara Reames and husband Ray, Clara Guzikowski, and Robert Charles Evans. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Evans, son Elza Ray Evans and two grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the First Nazarene Church, 365 S. Seaward Ave., Ventura., with Pastor Dan Hull officiating. Her ashes will be interred at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura at a later date.
